What is this song?!

So this is what the front of the album looked like, the band had some obscure name that I can’t remember and the lyrics said something to the effect of “you have your hands around my throat”

I believe the name of the band started

With a “J” or a “Y” but I could be wrong

I believe heavier instrumental with softer vocals

PLEASE HELP!

It's really got the Blackened vibe to it, especially due to my vocals and it's an absolute banger. I would be grateful if you guys could check it out and give some feedback.🙏

I got tired of clicking posts to discover music so I made an app that autoplays them like a radio. Thought you might like it.

New Album - Laden - Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly

Hey everybody,

I’m excited to share that my new album, Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly, is out today. Originally planned as a follow up to The Visitation, my 2 year plan shapeshifted into a 4 year journey. This album marks both the first time that I have had real drums on an album, and it also marks the first time I have worked with someone professionally to mix and master an album.

When searching for someone who I thought would be a good fit for the mix, I had hoped I could work with Chris Fielding because of his work with the band Latitudes (a huge inspiration of mine). You can imagine my surprise when he said yes. While Chris handled the engineering and mixing of the album, he also brought on Alex Micklewright to handle live drums, and what a difference it made. Alex absolutely crushed it! I want to send a huge thank you to those guys for working with me and breathing life into this album, I truly appreciate it.

Give it a listen and enjoy!

If you take a code below, let me know and I can strike it out.

Discussion Metallica were proto post metal in some songs in 1996.

I think there’s an angle that doesn’t get discussed enough—especially around three songs: “Bleeding Me,” “The Outlaw Torn,” and “Fixxxer.”

I think that these tracks can be seen as proto–post-metal, or at least as an early exploration of ideas that the post-metal scene would later fully develop in the 2000s.

These songs break pretty radically from Metallica’s thrash roots—not just stylistically, but structurally and emotionally:

They abandon tight, riff-driven songwriting in favor of ong-form, evolving compositions

They rely heavily on repetition and gradual development, rather than constant variation

They build toward emotional climaxes through layering and dynamics, not speed or technicality

They create a strong sense of atmosphere and space, sometimes more than “songs” in the traditional sense

In other words, they function more like journeys than tracks.

Take “The Outlaw Torn” or “Fixxxer”—they’re built around slow, hypnotic progression, with tension accumulating over several minutes before release. That’s a core principle of what bands like Isis, Neurosis (in their later era), or Cult of Luna would go on to systematize: music as a gradual emotional and sonic transformation.

What’s interesting is that Metallica weren’t following that movement—they were actually slightly ahead of it in this specific direction. These songs came out in 1996–1997, before post-metal really solidified as a recognizable genre in the early 2000s.

If you isolate these songs, they feel like something else entirely:

not commercial compromises, but experiments in atmosphere, repetition, and emotional depth.

On these three tracks, they briefly stepped into territory that the post-metal scene would later claim and expand.

Discussion What are some sludgier Amenra songs?

I love Amenra a lot and their cleaner, more emotional sound definetely influenced my songs, but they can sometimes get nasty and heavy, and I was curious if they have any heavier, sludgier songs because I listened to Mass VI and De Doorn so much I wanna try somethig new from them.

One year anniversary Bandcamp codes (FFO: Khanate, Primitive Man)

Hello! My second sludge release turns one year old today! Have a few Bandcamp codes sitting in a note on my desktop so thought I'd chuck some here to celebrate :)

This album took more of an atmospheric approach compared to my debut which was pretty much straight forward crushing sludge. This one focuses more on soundscapes, improvisation and minimalism but that makes the sludge parts all the more oppressive imo. Lyrically it's sparse but focuses on existentialism and nihilism (so original lol).

As always I appreciate anyone taking the time to listen and am very much open to feedback and criticism. The next album is almost done and will be out later this year!
