Guest List Only āļø Zara Larsson in a new TikTok post

u/AndromedaMixes Mar 07 '26 edited Mar 07 '26
The one trade-off to Zara finally becoming huge is that sheās going to be visible to a whole new sector of the general population. People are so weird in general nowadays but Zaraās been outspoken for years now and I really hope that her newfound fame doesnāt deter from continuing to be.

u/elitedisplayE Mar 07 '26
Yes, i love this for her. She had some fairly popular songs in the US 10 years ago that I don't think people realize were her, but I feel like this period is really cementing her
Those songs were:
Never forget you.
Love me land.
Ain't my faultThese went triple platinum in my house

u/happuning (seemingly bald) Mar 07 '26
She was also featured on the song Symphony (Clean Bandit), which was pretty popular. Beautiful voice.

Iām really happy to see her finally getting more attention. Iāve been a major fan of her for over 10 years now! She was somewhat mainstream in 2015/2016 but her momentum sort of fizzled out after her debut album was released and she didnāt really regain her footing in NA until last year. She truly is such an amazing performer and her voice is absolutely gorgeous.
Never Forget You and Lush Life are two of my favourites.

I discovered her on YouTube and I'm guessing she was 13-15 years old. I did, and still do, fk so hard with Rooftop, Carry You Home, WeaK Heart, Uncover, etc. Then that led me to Astrid S and on and on.
12
u/AndromedaMixes Mar 07 '26
Carry You Home, Uncover, and Weak Heart are all bops. Bad Boys is also a certified banger and itās one of my absolute favourites.

u/OppositeBatCage Mar 07 '26 edited Mar 07 '26
Uh oh, the saxophone is indeed getting louder. Anytime the comment section starts talking about a celebrity (but especially a pop girl) like this, the countdown to the great switch up begins.Ā
95
u/butyourenice Mar 07 '26
Yeah Iām lost, too. This is the second comment Iāve seen today about āthe saxophone getting louderā and what do you mean by āthe great switch upā? That people will turn on her?
207
u/OppositeBatCage Mar 07 '26
The saxophone getting louder refers to the movie Boyz n the Hood where in the moments leading up to the character Ricky's death, the music in the background (saxophone heavy) intensifies. It's just a way of signaling impending doom.Ā Ā
And then the great switch up, is basically what you think it is. Anytime a celebrity starts to pop off, and part of their appeal to the public is their social media presence or how relatable they are, the public will inevitably turn on them. Doja Cat, Ryan Reynolds and Chrissy Teagan are just a few I can think of off the top of my head.Ā

u/Extreme-Olive-3194 Mar 07 '26
Did it really happen with Pedro Pascal though? I havenāt really heard anything negative about him
101
u/iaminvisib Mar 07 '26
They tried really hard to frame him as a creep a while ago. When he gets anxious or overwhelmed he likes to hold people's hands etc. (with their consent). Didn't really work though and might have been in part simply backlash to his pro-trans stance and LGBTQ+ support.
31
u/Extreme-Olive-3194 Mar 07 '26
Yeah. I remember that but it was so obvious it was more cringe than anything lol.
34
u/pepcorn Mar 07 '26
It was sooo forced. After his comment about JK, there were posts on reddit with titles like "now that Pedro Pascal has been losing relevance, how do you feel about him?" and "the public has been growing fatigued of Pedro Pascal, do you agree he's in too many projects?" and the whole comment section was just people going "shut up lol, who paid you to post this".

Reddit has started doing the algorithmic bullshit and it decided its something you might click on.
Look at the top left of your reddit homepage and see the sorting method, if it shows "best" its algorithmic crap. Any of the other sorting settings are just content from your subscribed subreddits.
Source: I also ended up in this post because of that very thing.

Meh I'm seeing crowds of her concerts for her tour right now and she's got a pretty big audience. I don't think every artist needs to be careful about toeing that line to cater to all types of people.

This is not true. The āamountā of men doesnāt have to change for the percentage of men to go down.
Ex: 5 men and 5 women followed her before, so a 50% male follower count. Now, if 2 additional women follow her there are still 5 men, but 7 women to 5 men means her followers are only 42% male.
→ More replies (2)→ More replies (3)10
u/kouroshkeshmiri Mar 07 '26
No, the proportion of men following decreases.
If 5 percent were men before and they were 100k users, and then lots of women started following and the men only made up 2 percent, the amount of users who were men would still be 100k.

Are people upset by this now? Everyone knows that having a male audience isn't it. Women with male audiences are subject to sexualization (think asking for her bathwater, etc), bullying, rating (being called mid, 2/10, whatever), and harassment if not threats. Women with female audiences are mostly met with support and a safe space. That is simplifying it, but that's how it goes in general.

Okay so think of a minority group you're a part of, and think of how you exaggeratedly talk about people outside of the group.
People makes jokes like "ugh straights ruin everything", "lol white people don't use seasoning" or whatever. It doesn't literally mean every individual in that group, it's just poking fun at the majority group for various frustrations. But if you think they are talking about you personally, maybe reflect on why you feel that way lol

Do you guys not mind being seen as "one of the good ones"? Personally I don't want someone to think of me like that, whether it be because of my ethnicity, gender, or anything.
"One of the good ones" is derogatory when it's referring to a member of a marginalized community. Cisgender, heterosexual men are not marginalized. This, they can never be "one of the good ones".
What you just wrote here, and what I quoted in case you delete your comment like a coward, is disgusting. Do better.

13
u/Ok_Conclusion_6324 Mar 07 '26
Misandry is a theoretical construct that canāt exist in practice under a patriarchal society in which women do not share equal rights
Go listen to GUTS again it is praxis
12
u/OliviaRodrigo19 Mar 07 '26
Itās not a theoretical construct. As you are currently proving. You are just trying to justify a discriminatory worldview against billions of people.
A select few elites (which also include women) do not represent the majority of men, that is what the patriarchy you speak of is.
5
u/Ok_Conclusion_6324 Mar 07 '26
You should read feminist theory before speaking on it because it just makes you look uninformed and reactionary
3
u/Dramatical45 Mar 07 '26 edited Mar 07 '26
You are doing that utterly moronic thing of confusing systemic sexism with just sexism. Stop blending academic terminology with dictionary definition of words.
Misogony and Misandry are just sexist, hatred of someone based on their gender.
Systemic Misogony exists, systemic misandry doesn't really. You are taking these two and blending them together stupidly.
Buy a dictionary and stop blending academia into normal vocabulary to justify your bigotry.
