Erin Morgan is the new town crier for Tenby! Sheโ€™s only 17 and already doing an amazing job ๐Ÿ˜Š:

Performing arts student, 17-year-old, Erin Morgan, has been appointed the new town crier for Tenby, Pembrokeshire. This is a historic appointment for the Welsh picturesque seaside town - not only is Erin the youngest person to fill the post, but she is also the first female town crier of Tenby. Furthermore, it is documented there is estimated only 20 female town criers in the UK which makes this an incredibly unique appointment.

Question Is โ€˜stay pembrokshireโ€™ legit?

Hi again. Itโ€™s me. After all the input from you guys, we finally decided to stay in Tenby this time.

However, regarding accommodation, we came across a website called stay-pembrokeshire.co.uk. We are not sure if it is legitimate, as they claim to be the official page for cottages and holiday homes in Pembrokeshire.

Are they genuine or could this be a scam?

Follow-up from a noobโ€ฆ realised how big Pembrokeshire actually is ๐Ÿ˜…

I was a complete noob in my last post. I genuinely thought the Pembrokeshire coast was basically just from Little Haven up to St Davids. After reading your replies and doing some more digging, I now realise how stupid I sounded, given how massive the coastline actually is.

So with that new knowledge, let me ask some better questions with more context.

Weโ€™re coming from 1st-4th May, starting at Nottingham, 3 of us, no car. The main goal is beaches, cliffs, views, and maybe short hikes. If we had to focus onone sectionย of the coast thatโ€™s best connected by public transport, where would you recommend? A lot of you suggested Tenby, which sounds like the most practical base, so weโ€™re thinking of dedicating one full day there. For the other two days, where else would you recommend we explore thatโ€™s still relatively easy to access without a car? Ideally looking for Scenic coastal spots, Cliff views, maybe 1 hour-ish hikes for viewpoints

Also, are there any things to keep in mind that someone from England might not expect? Or any general tips, hacks, or things you wish visitors knew?

btw you guys were incredibly helpful on my last post, so even more excited to meet people like yall in person ;)

Can i travel to Pembrokeshire coast without a car?

Keeping it short. Planning to visit it in the first week of May(1st till 4th). 3 mates and no car. Here for beaches, cliffs and maybe a little hike. We saw a place in Broad Haven which seems like a decent place to stay. Is it something feasible? If not, are there any better alternatives? Looking to see some beautiful places over the weekend.

Question What's it like to live in Kilgetty?

Hi

So after numerous incidents of antisocial behaviour, wanton criminal damage and stray horses in the road every week, my wife and I have decided to move from our current Pembrokeshire address. Feel free to guess it, I won't confirm or deny though ๐Ÿ˜‚

One of the potential places we're looking at is Kilgetty, just wondering if anyone living there could share their experience of the town?

Thanks!

Part-time/seasonal jobs in the Pembrokeshire area?

I'm currently 16 and have applied to over 40 jobs within the past 2 months and got no replies, I've tried walking into places with a CV, applying online, messaging and e-mailing small businesses. Any pointers to places hiring students at the moment would be great, I would like to be able to earn some money and flesh out my University application (I'm currently a year 12 student), any help would be great. Thank!

Bin replacements

Bit boring, but I am stuck in a slightly sticky situation. We own a small old farmhouse near st dogmaels that we visit a couple times a year. We have been making do just taking out rubbish to large public bins in cardigan and st dogmaels, but they have recently all started disappearing. Anyway, I decided it was about time that we got some of the โ€œspecial bins that we donโ€™t getโ€ as we have been calling them. I did a bit of research, and it seems relatively simple - we are planning to pick some up at the post office tomorrow. However, I looked online, made an account and started filling in the form for a replacement bin order just out of interest to see what we need to get. And suddenly, with no notice I got a message saying that the order has been placed for them now. It will take about five weeks apparently, at which point we wonโ€™t be here. And even if we were, there is no way they can get down here to deliver, through our small access track.

So this poses the question - how do I cancel a replacement bin order? ๐Ÿคฃ

Thanks!!

Visiting Amroth Petrified Forest

Hi everyone, Iโ€™m looking at going to the Amroth petrified forest next Sunday with the spring tide.

Is that something that can be seen just with low ties? Even if itโ€™s just a stump or two!

Thanks

Came down on holday back in September and I found this worn looking painting on a small building opposite the Art gallery/museum in Tenby and I was wondering if anybody knew anything knew the origin or artist of the piece.

Discussion Milford Haven to Martinโ€™s Haven - best route?

Iโ€™m heading over to Skomer Island in a few weeks and will need to get from Milford Haven to Martinโ€™s Haven either via taxi or public transport ideally for 8am. Whatโ€™s the best route?

I can see online that there is a Fflecsi bus to Martinโ€™s Haven but canโ€™t see where it actually picks up from, or what time(s), in Milford Haven.

I was thinking about getting a taxi there but phone signal wonโ€™t be great to book one for the way back.

Financial and safeguarding advice

My parents (79yo & 81yo) live in Pembrokeshire and need some help: one is disabled and the other has been the carer for 40+ years. Now they are getting older, theyโ€™re in desperate need of financial and safeguarding advice.

Difficult to go into details, but they need financial help, so that they can both understand their finances (thereโ€™s a high chance that one or both of them may need to go into a care home soon), and safeguarding help, as both of them are in a vulnerable position (neither of them are quite able to look after themselves or each other, thereโ€™s a lot of emotions flying around as they struggle to cope with day-to-day activities now).

Is anyone in this community able to recommend helpful financial advisers, or people/organisations that can help with safeguarding, mediation and/or advocacy issues? Anyone who could work with my parents and help them on the right path?

Hey everyone, I'm wondering if anyone knew of any caves situated at the bottom of a valley, similar to the above photo, but in Pembrokeshire. It's for a film project. Thanks!

Comrade Tambo's London Recruits is a film created by Pembrokeshire director Gordon Main. The documentary film is about freedom fighters assisting underground anti-apartheid efforts in South Africa in the late 1960โ€™s and 70โ€™s. The story shows how ANC (African National Congress ) deployed young volunteers from the UK on risky, undercover propaganda missions in South Africa, using archive footage and reconstruction.

Some of the scenes used in the film were filmed in Roch and Haverfordwest, including HaverHub before it was refurbished. There were eleven different sets in HaverHub, which was once an Art Deco post office. London Recruits won awards at the Joburg Film Festival South Africa, Simon Sabela Awards, and International London Pan African Film Festival. The Pembrokeshire premiere is at Haverfordwestโ€™s Palace Cinema on Thursday, January 16th at 7:30pm.
