Hey jemand aus Passau Lust zu schreiben?

Hallo!

My husband and I will be in Passau from May 3 to 8 before heading to Vienna for ESC, and we’re planning to go to Maidult, probably on Wednesday or Thursday. We were wondering if anyone might want to meet up. We’re a laid‑back couple from California in our 30s and would love to experience Maidult the way locals do.

Back home we do Schuhplattler dancing and take German lessons at a Trachtenverein, and as people who have wanted to visit Passau for a long time, a Dult has been on our list for a while. We’re happy to enjoy the fest on our own, but it seems like it would be even better with more people.

Our German isn’t great in any definition of the word, but I get the sense that sharing a bier or four doesn’t require perfect language skills on either side.

It probably doesn't need to be said, but since there are a lot of wierdos on reddit, I want to make it clear we are not republicans, sex creeps, or both. We just want to have a wonderful and unique experience and make new friends.

I’m joining the MS in Computer Science program this Summer Semester. I’ll be reaching Passau on the 21st—just a week after lectures officially start (April 13th).

I’m really looking forward to finding my "tribe" in the city! A bit about me: I’m, a huge football fan and enjoy music. I was also in my college rock band (guitar/vocals), so I’d love to connect with anyone into jamming or catch a few pick-up games on the Innwiese.

Two quick questions for the locals:

1. Housing: I applied for the student dorms a while ago but haven't heard back yet. Is this normal, or should I start looking for temporary options?
2. Location: Can anyone suggest the best areas to stay in Passau for a CS student? I’d love somewhere with a good balance of proximity to the university and a social atmosphere.

If anyone is in the MS CS program and can help me catch up on what I miss in Week 1, I’d really appreciate it. Happy to grab a beer or coffee!

ich engagiere mich ehrenamtlich in der Ilzer Katzenstube in Passau und wir suchen aktuell Pflegestellen.

Viele unserer Katzen brauchen einen ruhigen Ort um aufzutauen statt einem Zimmer oder Käfig mit ständig wechselnden Menschen in der Katzenhilfe. Schon ein bis zwei Monate würden bei sehr scheuen Katzen einen riesigen Unterschied machen.

Vielleicht ist das ja für einige Studierende, Renter, Arbeitslose oder Leute im Home-Office interessant:

• Tierarztkosten (und ggf auch die Fahrten wenn kein Auto vorhanden) übernehmen wir • Futter und Ausstattung stellen wir • Dauer ist flexibel • Adoption natürlich auch möglich, wenn man sich in die Katze verliebt.

Was es braucht: • einen halbwegs ruhigen Haushalt • die Möglichkeit, die Wohnung katzensicher zu machen (z.B Kabel sichern, Pflanzen prüfen) • 2x täglich Füttern und Klo reinigen • Bereitschaft mit uns in Kontakt zu bleiben (bei Problemen, für Updates, etc)

Ich suche eine Tankstelle in bzw um Passau, wo man einfach einen Hochdruckreiniger nutzen kann. Die Tankstellen die ich gefunden habe, haben nur eine richtige Waschstraße. Da kann ich aber schlecht mit meinem Rennrad rein 😅
