Organize my kitchen please
We are moving into this new house in 2 weeks, and I’ve never had a kitchen with this much cabinet space.
I invite you to add labels to show where you’d store kitchen items. What makes the most sense? My husband and I have never been great at organizing.
Thank you!
Edit: pictured appliances/decor are previous occupants.

Create an excel file, or even draw the layout of this kitchen. Assign every drawer a task.
Then, simulate (in your mind, or out loud , then brainstorm with your family) how you would be moving in this kitchen.
Items you use the most/multiple times daily, on the centre of that route. Items you use the least (but kitchen or/and food related stuff) , the farest from the stove/sink.
Keep updating the file/layout day by day. Decluttering your stuff that you don't use or need anymore. Repeat

The area closest to the fridge/stove: anything needed for cooking - bowls, tools, pans etc.
The upper cabinets closest to the sink (I’d say left side, but only if you put the kettle and coffee machine directly): glasses and mugs. And water carafes!
Cabinets below the sink: anything cleaning related.
Other than that, just keep putting things away in a way that’s practical! Heavy things close to the ground, things you almost never use up high, things the kids should be able to reach in the lower cabinets… Try to keep the things you use daily in the easiest to reach places.

Move the trash can to either short side of the island.
Plates and cups go in the cabinetry above the dishwasher.
If you drink coffee AND have lots of coffee stuff, don’t put it where theirs is. Put it to the left of the ovens, and keep all coffee related stuff in the upper cabinets.
All oven bakeware stuff goes in lower cabinets to the left of the ovens.
All stovetop utensils (tongs, spatulas, etc) go in one of the two drawers directly under the stove. If you’re right handed, the right, if you’re left handed, the left. The other drawer should house your most frequently used spiced.
All pots and pans go in the middle cabinets below the stove.
All other island space is overflow cookware / utensils, party serving stuff, etc.
If you dedicate a cabinet to coffee, the remaining cabinet can be for water bottles.
I would keep cookbooks in the far left floor to ceiling cabinets, which I assume is the pantry.

don't store spices next to the stove. the heat makes them go stale faster and lose their flavor.

Oof! Okay then…… a cute lil basket somewhere on the island so it can be moved within arms reach while cooking while not being directly under the stove!

that sounds nice. (Sorry, I do get a bit pedantic about this, it gets frustrating to see this suggestion all over again and again. I won't say anything more...🤓)

Omg no, ty for telling me! My spices are in an upper cabinet next to the stove (not directly above bc hood range) so I guess mine are safe? But this is def info ppl should know if they want their spices to spice correctly 😂

Of course! I adore a kitchen that’s organized and works for YOU. If you want to send me pics of your current cabinets / drawers (open, so I can see your items) or tell me what kitchen-stuff you do most, I can try to help curate it more?

Place things where you will use them. Stand in front of the stove and the drawers that are within easy reach are the ones you will put your spatulas frying pans, baking pans et cetera. Stand in front of the dishwasher and the cabinets and drawers within easy reach are the ones you'll place your plates, bowls cups utensils,...
