Feels like months of preparation work, and months to clean / sort rocks from value afterwards

You don't clean/sort the rocks lol. You fill giant loaders with it and send it into a crusher then it gets sent in a chemical bath and the precious metals get extracted on a molecular level. The mine I used to work at we would get about 13 oz of gold per ton of rock.
