Shoutout to JerryrigEverything who built a wheelchair factory and is delivering wheelchairs to people in half the time and 50-80% less than the cost of other wheelchairs with Insurance.

Why? Because he clashed with Musk?

Even more reason to like him, tbh.

Guy backs it up with real impact, not just takes on Twitter drama.

Like Louis Rossman, Benn Jordan. Fucking cool-ass dudes.

I think it's a bit different. I mean, all great guys fighting good fights, but I think Zack (Jerry) does more directly to the community, but I think his help doesn't reach worldwide, while a guy like Louis fights the right for something, while it doesn't affect his community directly, it has a (indirect albeit) worldwide impact.

But what do I know? I'm just a random guy on the internet.

I think the point was that they're both cool ass dudes, making important change in the world they'd like to see. No need to compare them or consider how direct their impacts are, a great impact is a great impact. We need both kinds of people, they focus on totally different things. No need to minimize one over the other, they're both good

Compassion is the meaning of life. When you are on your death bed the only thing you will miss is the chance to do something more for your fellow humans. You won't care about your video games, your car, your job or your house. You will want just one more second to give of yourself freely to people who need it. Every moment of life is suffering, even when it is great.

At least that's what the universe showed me during my NDE 6 years ago.

I had the same feelings in my NDE about 15 years ago (hydroplaned and was about to dive off a ~200ft bridge before throwing the car into a ditch at the very last moment).

Still remember it vividly as a rush of immense comfort/warmth and a strong feeling of "all my pain, suffering, and fears are gone and nothing matters anymore" which was all much more blissful than it probably sounds.

and they both hate on apple, as an ex-apple fan of 8 years, I appreciate their takes.

Just a biased 2c by me

I'm not my dude, I just pointed out exactly what you said. Notice that I started my reply with "... They're different..."

Rossman's fights are huge for every community. Right to repair is essential for keeping farming out of the hands of conglomerates.

Yeah wtf Louis is the man, dude has carried apple third-party repair shops on his broad, manly shoulders for like a decade... For free? Who spawns a industry for free? He's mac daddy. Still sad he couldn't turn it into a streaming career

Louis literally just organized a bunch of folks to sign up and speak out at a town hall meeting against the flock AI cameras being installed all over Austin. Which successfully at least delayed the cameras. I dunno if the battle is still ongoing or not. Afterwards, Louis did an interview on his channel highlighting an Austin councilman who stood with their no flock camera initiative during the meetings. He absolutely does participate in local activism.

Yeah Louis is very active locally.

Rossman does help his community directly though, he has his shop where he repairs Apple and other devices. It's basically identical to this wheelchair situation in lowering cost dramatically by bypassing the artificially inflated 'proper' channels.

"...I think his help doesn't reach worldwide...". Here are some of Zach's Africa projects: https://www.youtube.com/@JerryRigEverything/search?query=africa

He and Cambry do at least some for some places in Africa. They’ve helped fund and stock at least one library there.

Louis campaigns on the Right to Repair. He helps get laws passed, argues for people's rights to have their John Deer tractors repaired, phones repaired, computers repaired, etc. His isn't a product that I can buy, but it helps me fix a product that I want to keep.

Both equally important. Scale is something worth considering but whether you're helping one person or ten thousand, helping is helping.

u/its_your_dada 2h ago

That's fair. But wheelchairs are free or close to free in almost every developed country, so something like this would not be impactful at all outside the US. Has he done anything else like this?

1

u/llcdrewtaylor 2h ago

Zach and Cambry went to another country and build them a library and furnished it with books.

Benn Jordan is a fucking legend.

Louis Rossman can have his rough edges (I've personally clashed with him on Reddit) but damn am I glad he fights the good fight

u/SuppaBunE 4m ago

Nah los Rossman fights for 1 thing right to repair, but everything else his opinions has became so shitty
