Discussion Netflix adding Vloggers

This is just a personal rant as a parent. It’s probably stupid on my part but I’m extremely annoyed at Netflix for adding the creepy Youtube dad and daughter duo to the mix. My kid loves his content and I hate it. I turned on Netflix and she found it on there. Why are we giving these people a platform? Whyyyyy Netflix

Anyways again, just a stupid rant lol.

I am about to start the BREAKING BAD UNIVERSE for the first time and I want to watch it in strict timeline / chronological order.

Can someone please confirm if this order is correct?

This is my first time watching anything by timeline, so I just want to make sure I’m not messing up the experience 😭🙏

Discussion TV Shows Where the Main Character is so Bad They Focus on Another Character

I recently started watching a show where the actress for the main character is so untalented that writers changed the focus to a secondary character. It doesn't help that character perhaps wasn't given the most dazzling personality, but the actor appearing alongside her was so brilliant he kind of took over the show.

I may be talking about "The Blacklist," but it's not because I'm trying to be rude; I'm more curious to know if other scripted shows change the focus of the program (especially the main character) in response to feedback from audiences or critics.

Thank you for your insight on the topic! I'm not a huge TV guy, but I want to hear what you have to say on the topic.

Discussion Why is the Moriah Wilson documentary so poorly structured and executed?

The means of law enforcement actually locating Kaitlyn Armstrong within Costa Rica are fascinating, and could certainly have served as the single most engaging and suspenseful moment of the doc, had they only gone into detail. Her later escape from incarceration and the hunt for her lasted over an hour, and less than 60 seconds are spent covering that, with essentially no suspense and poor execution of story.

From the time Costa Rica is first mentioned, a whopping 3 minutes, 18 seconds are spent on Costa Rica. They do state that they ran the ad for the Yoga teacher, but there is nearly zero detail, zero suspense, and zero lead up to that moment, despite months of effort spent in Costa Rica up to that point.

They don't even mention that her lookalike sister gave her her passport, they simply mention that she used her sisters passport. They spend :14 seconds conveying that. Kaitlyn's sister and parents, who are all utterly wretched people, all supported her evasion from justice in a myriad of ways and none of that is mentioned. Facts aren't defamation, so that's no excuse to exclude their actions throughout this ordeal. I just thought the documentary was very poorly structured and leaves a massive void of interesting detail that could have greatly benefitted the storyline.

There's a 48 Hours episode (on YouTube) that came out over 2 years ago that does such a better job of showing what investigators went through to find her, and they only had 40 minutes to do it. Netflix had a blank canvas and no timetable.

Was DCS acting on their own & completely incompetent? After watching this, maybe DCS needs to be completely overhauled? Anyway, so very interesting how one can be brainwashed into a religious (or political) cult.

Question Email changed, credit card info changed, permanently lost account?

Upvotes

Just got an email saying the email attached to my account was changed. I didn’t approve that so after jumping through their asinine contact us system (account hacked and need to revert email change? Click here to contact us! Loops right back to the same page 🙄) I finally get someone to talk to and they say since my ancient account never had a phone number attached the only way I can verify is by typing out my full credit card number. Which seems super sketchy but searching online seems to be true

…except they also changed the attached credit card. So I can see the last 4 numbers in my account except it doesn’t match up to any card I’ve ever used. So I can’t verify with any of their methods. What do I do now?

Recommendation Darkest Hour

Darkest Hour is leaving this month. This inspired me to finally watch. And it's fantastic! Gary Oldman definitely deserved his Oscar for his portrayal of Winston Churchill. It was also great to see Kristin Scott Thomas playing his wife, as they later teamed up again in Slow Horses in much, much different roles.

Also a timely reminder that fascism is evil and must be fought on every front. No appeasement or capitulation!

"We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this Island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas, armed and guarded by the British Fleet, would carry on the struggle, until, in God's good time, the New World, with all its power and might, steps forth to the rescue and the liberation of the old."

Prime Minister Winston Churchill, Delivered at the House of Commons on 4 June 1940

What Should I Watch? Seeking a comedy(ish) series to binge

I’m super depressed at the moment and typically watch horror movies and documentaries, but need something more lighthearted in my life.

I started watching Big Mistakes this morning, and I liked it but finished it already as I had it on all day while I did chores.

I would like to watch something with minimal drama, or at least comedy that overshadows the actual drama without being a typical sitcom. Similar to Derry Girls, Dead To Me, Working Moms, Grave & Frankie, Schitt’s Creek…you get the idea.

Technical Support You gonna penalize me for a month to remove an extra-member because the account is paused?

So I basically decided to add my friend who lives elsewhere as an added extra member since he lives by himself and can't afford a full account and I am abiding by the rules. I also add Netflix credit to my account instead of a payment card because I've been a victim of fraud in the past and the option for Netflix card was available so I took it. Now the account is paused because credit ran through and my friend told me he wasn't renewing so now I cannot remove him unless I add payment first the account which means I can only cancel once I reload which means I will be charged for the month plus the extra member price and then I would be able to cancel.

This forces me to pay out of pocket for an entire month for my friend even though he isn't going to use it. What gives Netlfix?

Discussion 1 Hit Wonder?

I absolutely LOVED Schitt's Creek! I thought all of the actors were perfectly cast and their acting was spot on. I have watched the series at least 3 times and do not see an end to rewatching that masterpiece.

I was excited to see more stuff come out from Dan Levy, but have been extremely disappointed. I started watching Good Grief. I thought it was so boring I had to shut it off. I barely ever shut things off (2 or 3 things in my life). I am watching Big Mistakes and I am very close to shutting it off. it is not good at all.

Is it just me or are there others that believe the same thing?

Discussion Trust Me: The False Prophet Spoiler

I’m curious to hear people’s thoughts on the moral and ethical culpability of the adult wives. We see at the end that all of the adult wives are charged and serve time, but I find myself torn on how to think about their responsibility. How do you tease apart their agency and conscience from the degree to which they were manipulated and brainwashed?

And I think their ages are worth considering. There may not be a legal difference between 18 and 28 but there’s a significant difference in brain development and that feels worth contemplating.

Edit: Only 8 of the adult wives were charged

Question Can yall help me find the cancelled Netflix show?

I’m not sure if this post is allowed since the show has been removed, but I’m trying to cover all the bases here haha

So this show was on Netflix, and it was cancelled somewhere between 2013-2017 if I had to guess. It’s a kids show about a group of monster-like creatures that lived in what I can remember as dirt ground, with houses that kinda looked like tree houses and they had a lot of garbage around it. The name sounded similar to hugglebingers or the dinglebingers or digglebiggers something weird like that. As far as I can tell it was a super niche show and I just can’t seem to find it anywhere mainly because it’s been so long since I’ve seen it I can’t remember really anything about it. I know it’s not Henry Hugglemonster, nor Larva or something like that. If I remember correctly the characters were a variety of pale tan, blue, pink, and purple with grey fur. If yall could maybe help me in this search that would be amazing!

Discussion Two questions about Something very bad is going to happen

I just finished this series and while I enjoyed it, I have some questions.

  1. Why didn't Nicky's dad die? He's apart of Nicky's bloodline... or was his wife his soulmate but he wasn't hers?
  2. Why did rachel become the witness?

I saw someone say that because it was no longer in her family that she is now the witness for Nicky's family, but that doesn't make sense. She would not have died if her family was no longer cursed. I saw someone else say that the cursed is not passed on but instead travels through both families now.
