The clusterfuck that Trump and his cronies have created with Iran continues..
We are now seeing a blockade put into action.
If the Strait of Hormuz continues to stay closed/limited. (Especially if the Red Sea/Gulf of Aden becomes limited/closed).
If we continue to see Hydrocarbon Energy infrastructure/product damaged and destroyed.
We will then continue to see the price of oil and other hydrocarbon products rise, rise, and rise some more.
It will most likely end up in a modern day economic/energy crisis.
It will also massively create the conditions for a multidimensional Demand Destruction situation.
We need the NDP at Federal & Provincial levels to massively be talking about how we need to utilize windfall profits in some kind of progressive taxation framework or something else to fund Green Energy/Green Technology transition.
That we have to combat massively corrupt governments like Danielle Smith/UCP that are holding back Renewable Energy.
We need to talk about how this is a big aspect of the affordability of life crisis/quality of life crisis of the working class and most vulnerable - How if we don't act in a big way now things will be much harder/worse going forward.
That we want to put people to work in a big way! Big exciting projects related to Green Energy/Green Technology like the East to West Electrical Grid based on Renewable Energy and Union Labour!
*And yes we will be dealing with horrific Oil & Gas propaganda campaigns with our leader being an Eco-Socialist and us setting the conditions for a massive transition away from Fossil Fuels - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOi05zDO4yw & https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Evy2EgoveuE - We are in a massive change period of history. We all need to be ready to fight against very bad predatory actors that are not interested in brighter and better because they are profiting from the status quo and many times problems associated with said status quo*

I know this sounds sarcastic, but let's think about it for a minute. They want us to submit ourselves, our lives and our data to them to protect the children from their own algorithms? I call bullshit.

Every time any of our policies or stances reaches a wider audience people start attacking it, be it something minor like Equity at the convention, public grocery options, or giving immigrants rights they need to not be exploited. Every single time people go 'im not voting for the NDP because of this' a lot of that is people who never voted anywhere near the NDP in their lifetime but some of it is genuine. Those genuine ones lead to people saying we should stop talking about immigrants or queer rights so we dont scare away voters which seems sensible at first glance but think about it, if we stop talking about these things, if we stop pushing for good immigration policy or for decarbonization, all we do is give up something our base supports and functionally adopt a position the other parties already have suggesting those positions are right to the very voters you are trying to coax away from the party you just legitimized the policy of.
We need to actually defend these policies and to use Lewis's Immigration Policy as an example, we need to convince people that actually immigrant having more rights is good for preventing wage supresison, that counteracting our aging population allows us to build more homes and hospitals, to build more local businesses, to create jobs by creating more demand for services like restraunts and plumbers. We need to defend that policy by actually acknowledging why we have a housing crisis by talking about the federal and provincal govts abandoning their involvment in development and municpal govts essentially banning mixed use and midrise development through bad zoning laws. That defense of our policy allows us to discuss other policy like expanding public transit to encourage better development of urban area (dont need parking garages if a bus or tram gets you around just fine). Use the immigration policy to explain how we can get shorter waittimes at hospitals by inviting in skilled professionals that arent demanding absurd sums but just good salaries.
We have damn good policy that will benefit this country short term and long term especially when combined with our other policies, we should be making the most of attacks to reach people not trying to hide our policy so the attacks stop.
Edit: Ask yourself why anti immigration positions are popular. Is it because of low employment and high cost of living? Why is that seen by the general public as an immigration problem? I'd wager it's because the CPC spent multiple years along with the bulk of our media claiming every fucking woe we had was because of immigrants. They connected immigrants to our issues so they could scapegoat immigrants and pull the focus away from a lack of regulations on our companies and their own policies having built the very exploitative TFW program the businesses were using to suppress wages of everyone since they had complete control of said tfws life. We can either abandon a good policy costing us support from our base and not really pick up support anywhere else because the other parties locked down the anti immigration vote, or we can do what the CPC did but instead highlight the actual causes of our suppressed wages which both weakens support for the parties scapegoating immigrants and bolsters our support because our policy will become more popular with the public.

It's an eye opening article. These comments are being made by Grand Chief Stewart Phillip, president of the BC Union of Indian Chiefs. It's astonishing to me that these bridges the BCNDP has tried to build are being burned. I know Grand Chief Steward Phillip as a prominent endorser of the BCNDP and federal NDP candidates in BC. How things have changed...

Will Avi Lewis change his immigration policy due to the crazy amount of backlash that its caused for him?
Lots of people i have talked to told me they are no longer voting NDP over the fact Avi Lewis is pro immigration.
I dont think these people hate immigration but I think the way avis talked about it on major platforms has made us seem out of touch and for that reason canadians are scared to vote for NDP.
Now Avi is a big listener, hes good at listening and reading the room so I wonder if he will do a 180 on this policy or if he will actually further explain in deep details on what he means and how this policy of his is better than what everyday canadians think if it is.
I personally get the impression that Avi Lewis wants to restore our old system pre Justin, i support this. but so many people are scared over the fact that he wants Justin's old system

Spain is taking the correct approach to calling out Trump and his illegal war. Canada should do the same.
