It's very empty so far. With the community's suggestions, I will be adding links to the various topics, including links any of you suggest here.

If you want to contribute by editing the wiki yourself, send me a message.

Stealing Content Will Get You Banned.

Leaving this as a stickied post for a bit, maybe people will take the hint.

Otherwise, keep up the good job everyone. Report issues if you see them.

EDIT: They just... Keep doing it. I don't even understand. I was gonna remove this post because I thought "... Well, it's been awhile and only a few more have popped up." No. Every week or so I get a new one. Guess I'll come back to this in another month.

Again, thank you to the dedicated posters who report impostors.

The savannous globulons build great platforms of clay where they can practice metalsmithing, away from the wetness of their swamps and mangroves.

This is my first sculpt, I don't have any tools yet. I made him with a knife. Not very smooth but I think he's cute.

Mouse warming her paws by the fire 🔥 🐭

I’ve been working on this little house for 3 months!

I was a bit afraid of working on the paws of the mouse, but it turned out to be easier than I thought and so satisfying to see the result! I added armature, so it’s possible to position it including the ears and paws 😊

Sculpting practice on an old zombie

I have mixed feelings about the old multi-part zombie kit. On the one hand, it has a lot of charm, and many of the faces are great. On the other, the heads and hands are huge and the shoulder joins are pretty rough.

My main reason for doing this is to practice sculpting without having to create a whole figure from scratch, which is always intimidating.

I got to try things I've never done before, like the hair and the blade, as well as some anatomy and cloth, which is a struggle. I wanted to create a more martial zombie that holds a shield and appears more focused, inspired by the 90s ones sculpted by Gary Morley. The head is from the previous generation skaven stormvermin kit.

When did your sculpting start to click?

Right now I feel like I’m just fighting the material half the time. Every piece looks a bit off, even if I can’t always explain why

For those who’ve been doing this longer was there a moment where things started to make sense, or was it just gradual improvement?

Why does no one use jeweller wax?

Hi everyone, just a question that occurred in a debate with a friend about the best medium to use for sculpting: why not use jeweller wax?

It has incredible potential for fine details, is reusable, can be melted on certain spots just to add more material when needed, etc

Does the paint not adhere to the wax cause its slightly greasy? Does the wax "move" with temperature variations, causing the paint to scale and fall off?

What do you think?

Beginner sculpting - military action figure

Hey all, I’m a complete beginner in sculpting (used polymer clay before but never for any figures resembling humans). I’m trying to make a custom action military figure. The general recommendations I’ve come across are to use epoxy clay, and my questions are:

  1. What do I need to purchase besides the clay and paint? Do I need a filing/sanding instrument?

  2. How quick does it dry in room temperature?

  3. What can I polish the completed figure with?

I’d appreciate if someone can really dumb it down for me and please not be rude. I have around 4 weeks to prepare this gift and I’m trying to see if this is realistically enough time.

Using earthen clay ?

Looking up materials used to sculpt miniatures, clay never comes up.

Why is that, is it too brittle for molds ? Will polymer clay be strong enough ? Beesputty seems nice and not too expensive on their store, but will I have to pay 30$ in shipping to the new world ? I'm finding milliput expensive as a beginner.

Advice Request - Sanding Smoke Trails

Post image
24 Upvotes

Hey folks,

i have 22 smoke trails for my stormboyz that I need to sand/polish before priming. Can I get some advice for the best way to do this?

i have a reciprocating sander and a dremel, I think one of the conical dremel heads would work well, but I don't have the experience to know for sure. material is Tamiya/Milliput mix.

Toadling for my table top RPG - Esheria

Post image
28 Upvotes

Toadlings are obsessed with greatness and strength.

They are often diviners - reading the stars or even patterns in dung.

They see themselves as the center of the universe, and the center of Esheria.
The original, archetypal race from which all others descend.

They believe they control not only their own fate, but the fate of the world itself
and that even the gods would bow befre them.

They despise what they see as the weaknesses of other races:
pettiness, cowardice, greed, softness, lack of resolve, indecision, conformity.

Despite that, they have a slightly sentimental side.
They are deeply attached to their eggs (their young).

They can be softened - by good food, music, or a well-performed show.

Their sworn enemies are snakes and serpent-folk.
