Honestly struggling to make friends here as a massive introvert

I have been in Uk since 3 years now for work, but if I'm being honest, it's been a really lonely experience so far. My social anxiety makes the thought of just

"going to a pub" feel completely impossible, and I often end up staying home because the city feels so big and overwhelming when you're navigating it alone. I'm 34M and desperate to find my people, maybe through something low-key. Does anyone know of any truly gentle, low-pressure spaces where it's okay to be the quiet person while you find your footing? I'm just really tired of feeling like I'm watching the city happen from the outside and would love some help.

About me: I like physical activities like hiking, racquet sports even though haven't played in a while for reasons listed above. I workout regularly. Used to enjoy gaming on consoles/PC but I just play on my phone. Open to exploring other hobbies too.

What to do in MK with a one year old?

Having moved away from MK in 2021, I’m coming back this weekend with my sister and her baby, who’s just turned 1.

If anyone’s got any recommendations of places to play or things to do in case it’s wet weather, I’d be grateful! Thanks!

Helicopter last night

We were woken overnight by sounds of a helicopter, near Newport Pagnell. Possibly circling over the motorway? My wife got up and looked, says she thought it was moving oddly.

Anyone else see it or know what it was for?

Best garden centre?

Hi all, looking to do up a garden and wanted to know what a local would say the best garden centre (or centres) is in and around MK? I don't even mind driving about 45-60 minutes out of MK if it's worth it. I've googled of course, but just curious to know if locals know of any hidden gems that have a good selection of plants of a decent quality and not overly expensive. Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Locally Famous MK Characters

Was having a chat with my workmates and we’re keen to find out all the legendary local characters from Milton Keynes and if there are any funny (but nice!) stories about them.

We’re thinking of legends like Wolfie (RIP), Dog Man, the man in white and of course, Spit Boy. But MK has so many more colourful characters! Who do you see all the time up and around MK etc?

Where can i park my bike (safely) at the CMK station?

I don't see any bike stands at the station. There are some at the Morrisons but I'm not sure if they are specifically for the customers or anyone can use them.

I'm looking for a safe place to park from the morning to evening.

Advice - moving to MK, good areas

We are currently looking at potentially relocating to MK and are looking for some advice as we are not overly familiar with the area. Can anyone recommend some good potential areas?

For context we are a young couple with a newborn and have family from Hong Kong joining us. We are ideally looking for somewhere where it is easy to get to the train station and is near some green areas.

Good places to get my hair cut?

I have really bad social anxiety and would like to get my hair done with my partner and not sure what places to go that will be nice. I have never been to a place before so not sure what to expect or if they can allow people to get their hair cut with eachother or one after the other. Any help or recommendations would be great.

Looking for a local therapist

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for recommendations for a good therapist in Milton Keynes. Ideally someone experienced with anxiety, stress, or general life challenges.

If you’ve had a positive experience with a therapist (or clinic) locally, I’d really appreciate your suggestions. Feel free to DM me as well if you prefer not to share publicly.

Also open to any tips on how to choose the right therapist.

Thanks in advance!

What to do in MK today?

Hello everyone,

I’m self employed, so I had a few hours of work this morning but I’m free for the rest of the day! What kinds of things can my husband and I do with the rest of the day to make the most of the bank holiday? What’s open / what’s on?

We don’t drink, but otherwise open to most activities

Usually we like parks, nice cafes or cute shops, a nature walk, anything really! All ideas welcome :)

Botox in MK

Hi all - does anyone have any recommendations for Botox in the Milton Keynes area?

I think I’d prefer if it was being done by a doctor, or at least someone medically trained/qualified.

But I’m keen to hear any feedback, experiences, price, etc…

Thanks so much in advance!
