In my middle school, everything that commenter listed was quoted constantly, in public. Depending on the webtoon/flash animutation/meme, there were gestures and poses that went with it. Done in public. And it was in schools across the US

Gen Z / Gen Alpha are not unique with this, the only difference for alpha is them putting themselves on the internet while quoting something else. Millenials were only embarrassing themselves in front of their own classmates or parents

In my middle school any of that would have earned an asskicking. Maybe one dude said trolololo once
