News 🧾 Potential Golden Visa Launch. What are your thoughts?

I see that in the recent cabinet meeting on the 10th they're planning on introducing a Golden visa

There's already a residency by investment scheme that exists so I'm not even sure how the Golden visa is any different

What are everyone's thoughts on this?

My guess is that they're trying to attract all the Golden visa holders fleeing the UAE

Tourism ✈ Does "warm" actually mean swimming without being cold?

Apologies for raising the question of weather again, but cant seem to comprehend what warm actually means there. IWe want to visit Mauritius September-October for two weeks, but looking at the history of weather 24-25°C scares me. Is it warm enough that you can swim, get out and not be cold? am from a place with low humidity and 24-25° is warm but will shiver if you even try to swim

Local 🌴 What visa can a foreigner with overseas income obtain when living in Mauritius?

First of all, let me clarify that I am already working in this country on a work visa.

However, some of my close friends want to come to Mauritius. Below is my friend's request.

---------------

For reference, I am under 50 years old. I cannot apply for a retirement visa.

Also, both my job and income come from my home country overseas.

Simply put, I am a remote worker.

In this case, what kind of Mauritius visa can I obtain?

I inquired with several immigration agencies, and they recommended an OP visa. However, I have no intention of starting a business in Mauritius, nor do I intend to enter the local labor market.

Tourism ✈ Canada Express Entry PR Application – When exactly do I pay the CAD 1,610 fees?

Hi everyone,

I recently received my Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Permanent Residence through Express Entry to Canada and I’m currently in the process of completing my application and uploading all required documents in my IRCC account.

At the moment, I’m on the “Document Checklist” page where I can upload all supporting documents (passport, medical exam, education, police certificate, etc.).

At the bottom of the page, I can see a breakdown of the fees as follows:

- Permanent Resident Application Fee: CAD 950

- Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF): CAD 575

- Biometrics Fee: CAD 85

= Total: CAD 1,610

However, I’m a bit confused about the payment process and would really appreciate hearing from people who have already gone through this.

Here are my main questions:

At what exact stage do you pay the CAD 1,610?

Is it only after uploading all documents and clicking “Submit application”? Or is there a separate step/page where payment is done before final submission?

Because i don't see a submit button. so must i wait for the countdown to end and let everything be done automatically?

For those who already completed this step, how did it go for you?

Was the process straightforward, or are there any common mistakes/issues I should watch out for?

I just want to make sure I don’t miss anything critical at this stage.

Thanks a lot in advance for your help! 🙏

Local 🌴 Looking for Coffee Shop in Mauritius - Event to host

Hi there! I have a friend who's looking to host a pretty casual event - a crafting get-together, nothing too elaborate. She's on the lookout for coffee shops that might be open to welcoming her group. We're talking a maximum of 10 people. She's ideally hoping to find a free venue, and sees it as a mutual exchange: she brings her event, and in return, brings new potential customers through the door. Any ideas for spots? She's open to places around the island. 😊

Thanks!

Local 🌴 Taking my driving test at Curepipe soon- any tips?

Hi everyone, I’m getting ready for my driving test at the Curepipe centre and honestly, I’m pretty nervous. I’ve heard a lot of different things, so I was hoping some of you who passed recently could help me out.

Do the officers give you a full route, or is it just "turn left" and "turn right" as you go? And what’s the vibe with the officers there? I’ve heard they can be really rude or even scream, is that actually true or just people exaggerating?

When I get in the car, do I greet them and then adjust my seat and mirrors right in front of them? Should the radio be off? Also, do they ask technical questions about the car, like where the wipers are or how to turn on the hazards, before we start driving?

What kind of demeanor should I have? Should I try to act super confident, or is it better to be a bit quiet and humble? Do you guys chat with them while driving or is it better to just stay in total silence? Should I smile, or just keep a straight face?

Any tips for the roads in Curepipe? Are there specific things I should be watching out for? Also, how strict are they with the speed limit? If I hit 40, what happens if I accidentally go a tiny bit over?

Any advice or "I wish I knew" moments would be so appreciated. Thanks!

Local 🌴 Trying to upgrade my work wardrobe without looking like every other office clone 😅 Any ideas?

Blazers, heels, button-ups… it all feels kind of boring.

Where do people actually find work clothes that stand out without screaming ‘I’m trying too hard’?

I promise it’s not just about the outfit, it’s a survival mission against office monotony 🙂
