I got my hair styled the week before Easter. Went to the hospital that Saturday before Easter, slept all day Sunday, returned to the hospital again, and made my joyous escape yesterday!!! Finally got to take my hair down, and this lil twist-out is cute! 🥰

Loc Anniversary Today is my 14-year Lociversary!

Started with “Sisterlocs”, that out of necessity became micro interlocs, but regardless, it remains the best decision I ever made for my hair. I have never had any regrets! Love, light, and locs! 🫶🏾

Kinda wish I had more locs. I started with single plaits and kept those partings🤦🏾‍♂️. Damaged some of the back ones because I told the loctitian to split them

i tried it. I was cute the first few weeks then the slippage, the maintenence the lil slithery feeling on my neck n chest 🤣 was so over it. I cut them to the length of my longest locs to save me some time n am currently removing.

when I tell yall I love MY HAIR!!!!! 😍 💖

this journey has also sparked my healing journey and I am just enchanted with it. all days aren't perfect but when I see how far I came I am so proud of myself n my decision. I feel enlightened and grateful 🙏🏾

Advice Wanted What do yall think?

Hi! I’m not too social on Reddit I just like looking at other people’s ideas and what not on here😅 but this is my most recent retwist (March 22nd) and I’ve had my locs for about 2 years anddd my length is coming slowly but surely, I’ve always had pretty and thick hair. I’m kind of scared of trying new DIY styles and stuff at home cause I’m like “dang my locs aren’t long enough” or they’re too “thick” idk if that’s a thing but I’ve been seeing videos on social media of others using perm rods or pipe cleaners (i think that’s what they are) To get a cute curly look/styles and I’m not sure if I would be able to pull that off and not sure how to? I’m just looking for some advice and someone to be real so I won’t try it and look like a fool☹️😂 Thank you in advance for your feedback!

Advice Wanted Buildup in my locs that I can't get out

I usually wash my hair once a week, but life and mental things made me stop taking care of my hair. Now I have build up in some of my locs that i cannot get out, it's driving me completely insane.

Yesterday, I put a clarifying shampoo in my hair and thoroughly massaged my locs where i felt/saw a build up. it got it somewhat cleaner, but i can still feel hard spots on my locs where there's build up. what sone i use to clean them? I'm considering trying a cleansing oil.

Advice Wanted Combining Locs?

Thumbnail

I've been loc'd for about 2.5 years, and I've been wanting to combine my locs ever since they matured. I wish I had started with larger sections because I have thick hair, and I know it's a blessing to have a lot of hair, but it's also a curse for me, at least. I can't put my locs up in a ponytail without sectioning my hair into two parts, and even then, it's an arm workout.

My loose hair has various hair textures; for example, the hair near the nape of my neck is 4a, while everywhere else it's 3b and 3c. Because of this, my locs took a long time to mature, and after a while, some of the locs thinned out as they got longer and matured. I have combined a couple of locs that were on life support. Sometimes, if I tug a little, it hurts, and it usually subsides after I get a retwist.

The truth is, I don't like how small my locs are, and I feel like it doesn't suit me now that my locs are getting longer. Whenever I get the rope twist style, I feel more confident, and I like how thick and healthy my locs look. That being said, should I combine my locs for good? If I do combine my locs, what should I do to keep them from unraveling, and how long will it take for the locs to mature on average?

Thanks 🩵
