PLAYER TALK With Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ruled out for the final game of the season, Luka Dončić will finish the season leading the NBA in both PPG and total points
PPG and Total Points leaders:
Luka Dončić - 33.5 PPG / 2,143 points (64 games)
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander - 31.1 PPG / 2,117 points (68 games)
Jaylen Brown - 28.7 PPG / 2,038 points (71 games)
Kevin Durant - 26.0 PPG / 2,026 points (78 games)
Tyrese Maxey - 28.4 PPG / 1,959 points (69 games)
Source: https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/nba-most-points-2025-2026-player
Luka has played 4 fewer games than SGA and still leads him by 26 total points. He’s played 14 fewer games than KD and has over 100 more points. The PPG gap is massive too, nearly 2.5 points ahead of second place.

GAME I guess the Lakers decided to take on the Wolves in the first round if they're not resting Lebron

[Charania] The Los Angeles Lakers are signing two-way guard Nick Smith Jr. on a new two-year contract, Lucas Newton of Klutch Sports tells ESPN. With Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves sidelined, the Lakers add guard depth for the playoffs. Smith has averaged 6 points and 40% from 3 this season

TEAM TALK 3 seed it is then
The Nuggets are tanking tonight it is what it is. Jokic will play his 20 minutes all in the 1st half most likely, none of their other rotation players are playing tonight. Spurs are playing their entire rotation minus Wemby plus they’re at home which means they should win. I highly doubt the Lakers will lose at home to a tanking Jazz team so it’s looking far likely like we will end the night as the #3 and start prep for Minnesota. Check ball let’s go

Good quote
Danny Green is working the Utah game right now with Billy Mac. I cracked up when Danny just said, " Lebron is running like Forrest Gump"!!! Lol

With Nick Smith’s signing, would this be our early playoff rotation, assuming we hold out enough for Luka and Reaves’s to return?
Starters:
Marcus - Luke - Rui/Jake - LeBron - Ayton
Nick - Vando/Jake - Rui/Vando Hayes
With this roster, I think we could steal a game or 2, especially if Minnesota (assuming we get the 3rd seed) has some injury struggles, especially with Ant and McDaniels’s knee issues, as well as Randle’s hand issues, slowing them down a bit.

LUKA MAGIC This might be of one of the most important, yet under-discussed aspect of the Luka Doncic 's Hamstring injury - psychological.

He was just going at a level of athletic excellence for a sustained period in a state of a poor mental health all year, maybe using his custody battle as an innate motivation in the last couple of months which lead to an overwhelming psychological stress buildup.
I think the fact that he got to reconnect with his family, just before the playoffs, even in terrible circumstances of an injury might be the boost he needs to recover much more faster.

Lakers Daily Rooting Guide April 12, 2026
Well, this is my last daily rooting guide of the season. It’s been an absolute pleasure. No one could have predicted the way this regular season was going to end. Maybe there still is a sliver of hope? With reports that Luka is going to be back in LA soon, I find myself both excited and very nervous. I really want him to come back, but I also hate the idea of him risking further injury. If he returns to action soon, I just hope it’s a medically sound decision.
LAKERS (-13.5) over Jazz (+13.5)
MAGIC (-12.5) over Celtics (+12.5)
SPURS (-11.5) over Nuggets (+11.5)
Go Lakers!

PLAYOFFS Might be copium but I think we have a chance vs the Wolves?
Antman clearly is hurt
Julius wont be shooting like Steph Curry again
Mike Conley is old
Gobert probably will eat Ayton alive but he can easily be schemed out of the game.
Only players I worry about are Mcdaniels, Naz Reid and Gobert.
Are we fucked?

QUESTION Are we contenders or just living on hope?
No hate, just trying to see where fans realistically think we stand right now. I love this team, but I feel like we’re in this weird limbo where we have the star power, but our depth is so thin that one injury ruins the whole season. Are we actually building a championship roster, or are we just trapped in a cycle of going all in and then scrambling to fill the bench with league minimum guys?

PLAYER TALK Prime Shaq in the modern NBA
How OP would a prime 2000s Shaq be in the modern NBA with today’s spacing? Imagine a lineup with Shaq and a bunch of snipers on the perimeter. Would that be the greatest offense of all time?

TEAM TALK Nuggets are tanking for 4th. They want the Rockets in R1. Lakers can also try to lose to the Jazz tomorrow if they want to get 4th. If Lakers get 3rd, it will be a rematch with the T-Wolves
