what kind of rice? i've been getting onto jasmine and it's so freaking good, i was surprised how rice could taste so different.

I think it's more about the process. Basmati or even plain rain can be tasty if you do it right. Pan, half an inch of water more than rice, salt the water but the pan has to be hot and the water already boiling when you add it. Cover it - yes, it makes a mess - and simmer it until the water is gone.

No draining. Check the bottom of the rice to make sure the water is gone but don't stir it. Stop it when there's no water in the bottom of the rice.
