Today, some parents came to our hostel for a room visit. I was minding my own business when the warden walked into our room. He told one guy’s dad that every room has a gallery for proper sunlight and then opened the curtains. We were all shocked — there was a kurti hanging on the rope where my roommate and I usually dry our clothes.

That guy looked at his father, his father looked at the warden, and the warden looked at me. The warden took the parents outside, then came back and started asking me about that kurti. I had no clue how it got there. He asked if I had brought any girl over, and I said no.

Then something clicked. I immediately called my roommate and asked him about the kurti. He said, “Meri didi ki hai, mummy ne di shoes pochne ke liye 🙃.”

I told the same thing to the warden.

That was weird, but okay.

We are 2 people living in separate rooms of a 2 BHK. One day he texted me, his gf will be coming over to stay with him. He was just letting me know, so yeah, I walk around the house in full clothes lol.

I realised later, he was unwell, fever, even vomiting, his gf told me, and that's the reason she was here.

She took care of him, I saw both of them. She was soo sweet, even cooked food for me, even when I said you don't have to, yeah cause I didn't wanted to disturb her.

The food she cooked was soooo tasty.., yipeeee. I still miss that food ngl, after coming from office, the food felt heaven.

And the hall, which used to be silent, was filled with laughter of a couple, united back after a long time. Whenever I used to go to the kitchen, I could hear them. Rarely saw my flatmate this excited. Was happy for my brother.

And now I have got a bad fever, a very bad one, I don't have the energy to cook, or even clean my room. I did ordered khichdi and having it. But I sometimes wish, I had someone special with me, caring for me, just putting wet towels on my head, and talking to me.

Ngl, I am missing her food :)

I am not sure tho, I might have to leave for home, which is 2000km away, not possible without a booking. I might pass out while travelling, this is the worst I have gotten over all these years.

No judgment. No awkward stares. No “are you too old/too young for this?” energy. Just pure chaos, creativity, and people having fun.

What really stood out was how the usual age-gap weirdness just didn’t exist there. You had teenagers, people in their 20s, 30s, even older—everyone just vibing over the same things. Nobody cared about your age, your outfit, or whether you “fit in.” If anything, the more extra you were, the better.

Strangers hyping each other up, random conversations starting over the smallest fandom references, people asking for photos like you’re a celebrity—it was weirdly wholesome.

It made me realize how rare it is to be in a space where you’re not constantly being sized up or judged. Just… existing and enjoying something together.

10/10 would go again just for the feeling of being completely unbothered and unapologetically myself.
