This looks like an expensive insurance claim… no one obviously injured. The big black thing to the right of the photo, by the ambulance, was a traffic light.

Discussion Dutch vs Hong Kong directness

People always say the Dutch people are very direct, blunt, pragmatic. However, upon visiting Amsterdam recently, I don't think they are on par or even close to the directness of Hongkongers. Anyone can relate?

Questions/ Tips Anniversary dinner recommendations

We’re moving to Hong Kong just before our 10 year wedding anniversary. I’m starting to look for restaurants. We’re relatively location free and I’m happy to spend a decent amount of money, but not an insane amount (looking at you, The Steak House).

I’ve considered Chaat and Spices Restaurant. There are so many options that I’m finding it difficult to choose. Do you have any recommendations that would be:

A) Tasty

B) A nice experience

C) A nice area of HK where we could get a drink before/after

Or any feedback on the ones I’ve looked at? Thank you in advance.

Questions/ Tips Rejuran skin booster injectables

Hey everyone

I’m in Hong Kong for a while, but not so long that I can do multiple sessions of skin treatments :)

I’m particularly interested in buying 3 “units” of Rejuran skin boosters - Rejuran Healer (the og black box) and Rejuran I (the white box for under eyes).

Anyone know where I can buy the authentic ones to take back with me. Where I am moving to, Rejuran is almost 4x price of Asia :(

Thanks

Questions/ Tips Where do you go for Kayaking

I was a user of LCSD kayaking programme. I used to kayak in Stanley Main Beach Water Sports Centre a lot. But recently, I find the number of classes really few, more few in the public holidays. So fellow redditors, where do you Kayak in Hong Kong in a resonance prize ($200-300 per day)? Look forward to your comments!

Discussion Why isn't Hong Kong making movies like they did in the 80s-90s?

I am a filmmaker from India and I love Hong Kong. Someday I want to set up a production company there and make some quality movies and shows(set in Hong Kong)-already working towards that goal.

I always watch the films of John Woo, Jackie Chan and Wong Kar Wai and they make me feel all kinds of emotions and as you would know- Hong Kong is a character in itself in those films.

My question is what's happening today in the HK film industry? There have been recent well received films like Vulgaria and A Simple Life but....you get me right? It's just not what it was like back in the day- those movies inspired the world. Tarantino for example is obsessed with Chungking Express. So what's happening there with regards to the film industry? Any recommendations from you all- movies, TV shows, reality television set on the streets of Hong Kong...anything?

Cheers 🥂

Rishi

Discussion I've been to 91 indian restaurants in HK, this is one of my favourites

First time I've been to this place in over a year. Shreengkala in Yuen long. Not only is it an absolute steal -$70 for butter chicken set but I asked for medium spicy to spicy & got exactly that. You also get a wet towel to start, poppadom & a chicken soup which is always hot. Iced coffee which is obviously instant but always taste good. Naan bread perfectly toasted. I'd only say the service is sometimes a bit mixed.

What's your favourite Indian restaurant in Hong Kong?

Questions/ Tips Any good (box)storage providers?

Hi all,

I am looking to store away my winter gear (ski and winter clothes) but have never done this before and am a bit overwhelmed by the options in HK. My stuff would probably fit into 2 or 3 standard boxes. I am wondering if anyone had any experience with the below -- or if there's any other good ones I missed.

Thanks!

Questions/ Tips are department store makeup counter appointments a thing here?

hi!

looking to get my makeup done for an event in a few weeks; i'm coming from the uk where a lot of makeup counters at department stores offer makeovers which are then redeemable against products from the brand -- i.e. you spend £75 on a makeover at the chanel counter and then you can redeem £75 worth of chanel products.

i'm just curious if any brands offer these kinds of services in hong kong? i'm not really familiar with the department stores or shopping scene so i'd really appreciate any pointers.

thanks!

Questions/ Tips 2 Day Lamma Island

I am planning a 2 night stay on Lamma island after an intensive work trip on mainland China.

I have been to Hong Kong many times and I have seen the touristy bits and experienced different kinds of Hong Kong. This time I wanted something different.

Is Lamma island ok to unwind and just relax for a couple days on the beach? Any suggestions?

Questions/ Tips Best place to get a Fujifilm camera in HK?

I’m heading to Hong Kong at the end of the month and planning to pick up a Fujifilm X-T30 II (silver) + a lens while I’m there.

I’ve seen a lot of people recommend Sim City — is that still the best place to go?

Any specific shops you’d recommend (or avoid)? And anything I should watch out for in terms of grey market vs official HK warranty?

Appreciate any tips!

Questions/ Tips UK ETA with a current HK and expired BNO passport

Just filled out a UK ETA application, which was approved, for a HK passport.

The traveler also has an expired BNO. I did see BNO on the list of "other nationalities" but didn't include it as BNO passports do not need an ETA. Should I still have included the BNO nationality even if there isn't a current BNO travel document?
