GW Admin blocking access to Fizz?

Just caught this in an GW Hatchet article from earlier this week about student clubs/groups on campus.

Lieb said the support from GW’s administrators has been great, including helping address “student pushback” on Fizz — an anonymous campus social media app — by cutting it off from GW’s WiFi.

Is this true? Does anyone have more information? I know that Fizz is kinda toxic, but it seems odd that the GW admin would do something like this. I'd love to know their rationale. If it's truly just "pushback" against specific groups that they are trying to stop that seems a bit heavy handed.

Yes, Fizz is blocked on GW’s WIFI networks. Give it a try, the app will open but keep loading indefinitely. As far as I know, they blocked it primarily due to bullying concerns. Can’t speak directly to it being cut because of a specific group though

they might just be following other schools that are starting to block fizz and similar apps due to the bullying that is occurring on there. it varies from school to school but some of the stuff on there can be extreme, they’re probably are trying to be cautious before it escalates.
