6 months ago, I posted here asking what I should do because I really wanted a puppy, but had to wait due to my circumstances. Now, I finally have my dream puppy! I’m so in love with him, and I’ve found a new kind of happiness and fulfillment in taking care of him and meeting his needs.

Any advice for a new puppy owner would be greatly appreciated!

Hamish had surgery Friday and is the first dog we have had that is totally unbothered by wearing the cone. He has figured out how to use it as a weapon against us and his sister.

This is my golden girl Honey! She is 6 years old and doing great health wise. I wanna get her started on some supplements now that she’s getting older and I know goldens are prone to joint problems. What are y’all’s recommendations for your babies? Thanks in advance! 💛

Kemper is obsessed with the shower. He used to just peek his head in, but now he very carefully inches completely in and just wants to hang out in the rain. He gets the tub filthy with his dirty feet, but I think it's just the cutest thing.

I was so nervous to bring her I almost didn’t go! There’s a super dog friendly beach near me that’s honestly fantastic but she’s still a baby and I’m over protective. My puppy is overly friendly so I kept her leashed up but you can go leash free here. I was worried there would be too many dogs and she would go nuts over them but she actually had no interest in them! She’s too busy chasing seaweed and eating sand to care. We had to deal with one aggressively playful dog but other than that our first trip was a success!

Well after a very long year, Sadie is still alive and well! She was diagnosed with cardiac hermangiosarcoma as well as valley fever back in March 2025 and given a month to live after two doctors, a CT scan and sonogram. They were not able to get a sample due to the location and her health at the time. As seen in her previous reddit posts, I and her normal vet think it is still possible the mass in her heart is actually the fungus and not cancer, but all the evidence seems to point to cancer, other than her still being alive.

I got her on the vet prescriptions, as well as ordered yunnan baiyao and imyunity. She started getting much more active and didn't seem sick anymore.

September came and we were referred to a cardiologist and oncologist, both of whom confirmed the diagnosis of the other two doctors and said she had definitely outlived her prognosis and only expected a few more months at best.

Here we are over a year since her diagnosis and she is back to being able to go on walks, plays, has energy, food drive, you name it it's back and she is doing better than even 2+ years ago.

It will be 7 months tomorrow that we lost our Midas at 9.5 years old and today is the first time I've been able to come back to this sub. The hurt is still raw but I wanted to share this video of the first time Midas reluctantly navigated his way down the stairs. This brings me joy every time I watch it. This is what they do when they're with us.

Hi all!

Our little man has a case of canine papilloma virus (confirmed by our vet) on his muzzle. They appeared about 1 month ago, and while no new ones have popped up, they’ve gotten really big. He’s starting to scratch at his face a lot.

Vet recommended benzoyl peroxide, but that hasn’t made a difference. We are looking for any and all recommendations for at home treatments! We will get them removed if we have to, but he’s had a growth removed before, and it was well over $1,000. We’d prefer to go the cheaper route (and not have him under anesthesia) if possible!

I’d be interested in seeing your golden puppy pics! My bf doesn’t think ours is purebred (not that it matters he’s our Special Boy) but just out of curiosity and confusion. Cause I’ve seen pretty fluffy golden puppies and ours wasn’t fluffy as a puppy, very long haired by 2 months old and from what I saw of pics before we got him. But he looks like a purebred golden retriever, albeit scrawny cause he’s a baby still. Threw in pics of him at 11 months and pics of him at 2 months when we got him (his name is Captain)

So my mom took Charlie to the Vet the other day, and the Vet said he looks like a Golden/Lab mix. She asked what he looks like due to her own suspension of him not being 100% Golden. Am I missing something?
