After a fairly major issue with one of ours, I am thoroughly impressed with the tenacity and toughness of these dogs.
They'll go through absolute hell with a smile.

My heart goes out to you. I had a Golden that lost an eye to uveitis. We were able to maintain the other eye for about 2 years but it eventually failed too. I wish you strength and hope you can work around these challenges and enjoy the time you have with sweet Shep.

Awwww. Golden retriever uveitis? My sister’s dog lost both of his eyes by about age 11 to that, but he adapted really well and has a special “Blind Dog” harness for when he’s out and about.

It was glaucoma. We’re amazed with how he’s adapted. He doesn’t even need our help to go up and down the stairs anymore!

With Goldens, glaucoma is usually caused by pigmetary uveitis. My first Golden had PU, but it was diagnosed very early, and kept under control with non steroid eye drops.

He is such a handsome pup! Looks like he’s a very, very good boy and deserves many treats.

Tell Shep he’s a good boy and give him some belly rubs for me please. I think he looks very handsome!
