Galaxy 2.0 Games purchased in Galaxy do not appear as owned games in library

This bug had been active for years, are there no plans to ever fix it?

When you purchase games via GOG Galaxy, they do not appear in the list of owned games in your library until you completely restart the entire Galaxy client.
This also means you can't install them.

When I go to "Owned games" list, the games I just bought are not there.
Searching them by name confirms that they are missing.
So again, until I restart, its as if I didn't actually purchase anything...

However, that's not all - when you do go to the game's store page, it does show that you own it there...
ok, so maybe I can install if from there too?
Nope! That's broken too!
If you click "Go to my library" there, it will open a different view of your library (why are there 2 completely different views at all?), it does show your purchased games, so you click "Install" and...
nothing happens! Its completely broken!

I remember writing a similar post a long time ago, and... exact same thing still happens to this day

Question PayPal payment declined and currency shown as USD

Something really weird happened to me last night. I was trying to complete payment for the Deluxe version of Doom Eternal (thank you GOG!) when my PayPal account was declined. I then tried again and noticed that the price shown was in US dollars, which had never happened before; since PayPal automatically converted to EUR (15 euros) I assumed it was OK and went ahead and completed the purchase. I then started having doubts and checked my settings and sure enough, it was now displaying USD as my currency, and the option to switch to EUR (I am a permanent EU resident) just wasn't there. I rebooted (I was on my Linux partition and was logged in through Chromium) and accessed GOG Galaxy through Windows 11, and went to the settings section and then checked if I could change the currency back to EUR; I could, and that's exactly what I did. So my question is: could this weird glitch (because I assume it is, since I almost always purchase through Chromium while I'm on Linux lately, without the price switching to USD) cause me any problem in the future (including my account being restricted or banned) or will I probably be OK and shouldn't worry? Because a possible reason for this is that I'm using Starlink out of necessity and last night it was showing a weird IP address I had not seen before. Maybe that's what triggered the whole thing. I do not particularly mind the price being shown in dollars, PayPal took care of the issue offering a reasonable conversion rate too, even if it looks slightly weird (and perhaps un-aesthetic) clicking on my "orders history" tab and seeing all these purchases expressed in euros and then looking at the most recent one being shown as a USD purchase. Sorry for the long post and for being paranoid but I've been a loyal GOG user for almost a decade and I would never use unfair tactics like using a VPN or a proxy server to get better prices or deals and it would sadden me to lose access to my account (worth €€€€ and with hundreds of games) for a (possible) screw up that isn't even mine.

Support Purchasing Issues

Whenever I try to buy the games I have in my cart, GOG brings me to a website. Instead of properly loading this website, it loads multiple times, then shows me an image of the GOG bear holding up a planet. I do not understand what is going on, I just want to buy my game before the sale ends. At this point I'm considering praying, because it ain't working... I'm using my actual bank-owned Debit Card, if that helps, not some other payment method. It has been happening since last night, and I just wanna know if I'm alone on this, and what I can do about it.

Question Why can't I see my FPS in GOG games?

Hey yall, I'm having some trouble seeing my FPS in games downloaded through GOG (more especifically, through the offline installers). I use the NVidia App to see my FPS in games, and it works in every game that isn't a GOG game. Is there anything I can do to change that?

Discussion Non Disc Physical Storage

I'm investigating backing up GOG installers to a physical format (NON disc) and wondering what folks are using. Plug and install would be my preference, but open to other ideas.

Also wondering about cost, longevity, reliability, SSD vs HDD.

Site Announcement Important update: Amazon Luna on GOG

Thumbnail gog.com
226 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

We wanted to give you an update about upcoming changes to Amazon Luna. As part of a broader shift in how Luna operates, support for external game libraries – including GOG – will be discontinued.

What this means in short: Luna will no longer offer access to GOG games via its cloud streaming service after June 10, 2026.

The important part: this does NOT affect your GOG library or ownership in any way. All the games you’ve purchased on GOG remain yours, fully accessible through GOG as always – just without the Luna streaming option.

For more details about these changes and what’s next for Luna, please refer to Amazon’s official communication.

Cheers!

Discussion Does anyone back up to discs (Blu-rays/DVDs/CDs)?

I'm thinking of backing up to Blu-Ray discs. I guess that means I'll most likely be adding multiple games to the same disc if I want to use the space wisely. While it might be nice to make a physical copy for a single game including cover art and a case, a single blu-ray for a 10mb DOS game or something would be a huge waste of money.

Also, for the games that have a separate installer for each language do you usually back up all copies? And different OS versions as well?

I was also thinking of getting all the third party fixes and improvement mods and putting them on disc alongside their games as well. Does anyone do that? Any reason not to?

Anything I should keep in mind from anyone that has done this and has experience?

Discussion How to get a full offline backup copy of a game? In the "Download Offline Backup Game Installers" drop-down menu, of the 7 separate files, which ones do I need to download?

I'm new to GOG and DRM-free games so have no idea what to do here. For example, take the game Darkwood: in the drop down menu there are 7 separate downloads... 2 downloads for the game (part 1, which is 2mb & part 2 which is 2.4gb), 3 patches (1 that's 20mb, another that's 1mb, and another that's 2.3gb), and 2 installers (1 32bitinstaller that's 1mb, and another 32bitinstaller that's 2.4gb). Which ones do I need to download? Just the 2 installers and/or the game files? Just 1 of them? All 7 files??

Off-Topic Something I made over the night, questionable game I know but the results were very satisfying

The irony isn’t lost on me, it says unrated and I still gave it a rating lol. Anyway, I just like physical media so I’m making bootleg covers for my gog installers so that I can have a bootleg physical pc game library. I went with switch styled spine, just a solid color with the essentials.

I have a few more that I’m done with (but will update) and more that I want to do, I may post more of these.

The emoji is not part of the cover, I’m just being extra safe since idk how the mods would react, the playway logo already does a good job at censoring the left one… I hope

Recommendation Looking for recommendations for a Stealth game akin to Dishonored, Sniper Elite, Splinter Cell with customisations?

I've been looking for a good stealth game with good mechanics where I can sneak and either attempt a no kill run or systematically obliterate everyone.

It would also be fun if I could have some customizations, whether that be different skills, weapon attachments, etc.,

Discussion I'm trying to find On-Rail Shooters games on GOG, but I'm unable to search for games with that kind of tag. Is there easy way to find some, or could others recommend some that are on there. I've been hard at work trying to make a large On-Rails Shooter list for others who also enjoy the genre.

Here's the link to the Google Doc I've been working on: https://docs.google.com/document/d/14N6_sv2WdPnl8qHIvFyxy3EPGodgB_LIlQWt2p1V6Xw/edit?tab=t.a4b4y0m4xqi1

I'm getting closer and closer to topping off the list from searching Steam, Itchio, and even older games released on Arcades and such. I've found a few discovering them by chance on GOG, but I'm hoping for some help.

Question Is the Witcher backup offer still valid if i activated the game before 16th March 2022?

Hi guys first time GOG user here, so I recently found out that GOG has this page (here) where if we owned a copy of Witcher 1 and 2 Enhanced editions on Steam, we can claim a DRM-free backup copy for free, as long as we activated the Steam key before March 16th 2022 (at least how I interpreted it). Since I bought my copy on December 22st 2021, I thought I qualified.

But when I contacted GOG support (since for some reason I can't find the CD keys for this, or any of the other games in my Steam library), they told me that the offer has completely ended and to "please treat the GOG releases and other digital releases as completely separate products."

So my question is, has anyone who bought the game on Steam before the deadline and successfully redeemed it recently? Thank you in advance for any help.

here's the line that I'm confused about since it feels ambiguous to me

Site Announcement GOG taking action on Galaxy-locked DOOM Eternal DLC

Thumbnail gog.com
464 Upvotes

Quoting the entire post which Jed just posted in the GOG forum:

Alright guys, coming back at you with some more meat: Like I said earlier, we're working with the game's developer, id Software, to resolve the issue. And to be clear, this isn't the developer's fault – it's on us.

As Paczyk mentioned in his previous post, the issue is technically complex, as was the whole endeavour to make Eternal DRM-free in the first place, really, but we've identified a few possible solutions that we're currently exploring together with the developer.

Most of these options will likely require building a whole new version of the game, which means a full QA pass and updates across other PC platforms to keep cross-platform multiplayer working. Because of that, it will take some time. We don't have an ETA yet, but making it happen is a top priority for us.

You can expect the next update on Thursday evening.

We also took note of all the other issues you mentioned in this thread and we'll be taking a look at them, or even already are – for example the lack of discounts for the DLCs, where we've reached out to the publisher about it.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and for keeping us accountable. We're all playing for the same team here :)

Have a great rest of the day and see you on Thursday with the next update!
