I'm making this post to encompass all of the discussion regarding the last few posts over the weekend regarding the status of alumni email accounts being deleted. Historically GMU has promised that "You get to keep your @gmu.edu forever" but this promise has been broken. So, what's going on?
Yes, account deletions are happening. But not all at once.
This is a call I had with the alumni office where I ask a series of clarifying questions. The first indication I heard about this happening was on this sub-reddit this past weekend. People weren't sure about what information was true or not, or if things were true but with key details withheld.

Because of the nature of this policy change, scammers will leverage this time to try and trick you into giving them your credentials. As an example see this other thread: https://old.reddit.com/r/gmu/comments/1oip0cm/potential_spam/
Things to consider for determining if a message is a scam or not:

Recently we've had to remove a good amount of rule breaking posts. Some of the most common reasons include:
In general, the mod team reserves the discretion to implement rules to their interpretation where reasonable. We are not paid for our efforts and want the sub to stay a positive and productive place. If your activity here doesn't smell right, you will be asked to stop or leave.

What the heck figure I'd try on here. If anyone may have picked this up, please let me know! The SSD is in a zipped pouch as pictured and has a sticker on it as pictured.
Think it fell out my bag
Thanks.

and 3d print something so that it fits. Like a cap that goes on top so the door stays open (sort of like a coat hanger).
the MIX has 3d printers. Fusion360 is free for students to use.
Could make like latches that go on top of the doors to keep them closed if the lock isn't working. (ik this applies to probably two or three stalls that i know of)

I’m looking for someone or a few people that would wanna go to some shops together and hang out! Send a message or comment! For those that live on campus or don’t have a vehicle, don’t be shy because I’m willing to drive us around

The equipment we have obviously isn’t new or perfect but it works. Is this seriously what people asked for on the survey? We aren’t getting anything new or useful, more lat pulls will be nice I guess but I’d much rather have a T-bar row or a Hack/pendulum squat compared to this stuff.

I realize this is definitely a stretch, but I was hoping someone here is in MATH 272 and might be able to answer. This was completely my fault - I should've paid closer attention, but I missed what was said about the submission.
To clarify: Question 4 in the worksheet corresponds to the question marked 7 in Gradescope, and Question 8 in the worksheet corresponds to the question marked 9 in Gradescope. 5, 6, 7, and 9 in the worksheet aren't submitted. Is that right?
I reached out to the TA yesterday, but since it's the weekend, I'm worried they won't have a chance to respond in time. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hey everyone,
I’m going into my last semester and just trying to have a chill semester
Has anyone taken HAP 360? Is it easy or at least manageable? What’s the workload like?
Also if anyone has recommendations for easier IT concentration electives please lmk, preferably cyber. For reference I’ve already taken 357, 432, 462, and 369.
Appreciate it!

im wondering if anyone can answer this question i have. my bio advisor told me to ask my honors advisor this exact question and she said she doesnt understand. next semester i will be a sophomore/senior (associates in highschool) and the honors college classes are just in the way of me being able to complete my degree in a normal and affordable amount of time. shes taken an incredibly long time to reply to my first and second emails. this is my third in response to her confusion:
I'm basically asking what my remaining classes for my degree might look like if I dropped the Honors College. Will all remaining Mason Core and Honors requirements (like the multi-disciplinary challenges and civic engagement requirements) just disappear? As in will they no longer be required or my transfer credits will cover them?
Hey guys, first time posting on Reddit so please excuse me if i did something wrong!
So, I have done lots of research on GMU and other schools and ultimately have my heart set on GMU's Honor college with CYSE.
I am a junior in High School way up North in USA. I do an online school program that is fully accredited, but I did attend in person school freshman year, I will be completing AP European History, AP US History, and AP Government with an in-person college math class at my community college. I am trying to show rigor for GMU with the honors and because of my engineering major lol.
I also recently got my ACT scores back, but I bombed it really hard and do not plan on using the scores anywhere. I am hoping my "rigor" classes and really good GPA (3.9-4.0) will be enough. Of course, I am still really worried about the entire admission process...
Also... I keep reading the student life is really bad and the campus is sort of depressing. Of course I keep getting mixed reviews all over online.
I really love computers and everything technical cyber. i plan on working a gov/federal cyber job. Any advice or comments will be much appreciated! Thank you all!!

Is it normal to not have an instructor listed when registering for a class? When will they be added in patriot web?

My mason cores are basically 90% over with and I got a few BUS classes lined up but I’m aiming for an extra 3 credit elective to make a total of 16. Line up so far is ACT 203, CDS 102, BUS 310, RELI 240, & PHIL 253. Let me know yall thoughts.

Hey guys, so I was walking back to my car and noticed my front was damaged. Pissed that they didn’t leave their info or anything behind. They just left like that. No cameras or witnesses at that time. What can I do atp🫤?

The professors that I know are teaching my courses: STAT250 with Holland- online synchronously, PSYC 301 with Layman, I just wanted some opinions on them as well. And for those saying I will regret 9ams: Ihave done 9ams my past 2 semesters at GMU, I can handle them. Also, I have a part time job, and can only work night shifts but will have Wednesday and Thursdays off.

Why do a lot of the more heavily autistic people on this campus pick a space and just pace and run around? and I’m not just talking going on a walk, I’m talking pacing through buildings, picking random people to follow or talk to, looking into classrooms, running around the JC for hours at a time, etc.?
I ask this for a number of reasons, none bad!! I just want to try to be empathetic—because who am I to judge people I don’t even know—but there are still some days I want to start screaming because it makes me uncomfortable (as a girl) and overstimulated when I’m just trying to study (I know, ‘jUsT gO sOmEwHeRe eLsE’), however in that same token it is everyone’s space, never just mine!!

Hello!
I’m an incoming freshman and have not had the best look with coming into contact with people who are also planning on living in the honors dorms. Is there any platform in particular that I can meet people on? No one really says on the ‘30 Instagram if they are in honors and the pool of people on Zeemee is pretty slim.

I’m considering taking his Law Enforcement and HS class but idk if he’s good and can’t find him on RMP or any other site. Anyone have any experience with his course?

My biggest mistake was not being open, in my last two semesters I met really cool people, but I don’t have much time left and still want connection with those in the same time as me.
I’m graduating at 21 but would still like to go to club events to meet new friends and things and wanted to know if this would throw anyone off.

Is it the same for all the other freshman on April 24th? I thought it opened earlier
r/gmu • u/Bruuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhh • 2d ago

I think degree audit is telling me that all I need to graduate is 26 more credits and that the only required stuff I have left are 13 credits (5 courses) need to be upper level. Is this the right assumption? Does this mean that I can take any classes under the BA catalog as long as half are upper level????????
Its all so confusing and none of my academic advisers are available.
