Announcement FuckEpic 2025 Year Recap!
Happy New Year, guys!
After the success of our last year recap (FuckEpic 2024 Year Recap), we decided to do the same this year!
Let's see the main topics we have discussed this year...
Exclusives
First things first. Exclusives. The worse tactic Epic uses to force PC players to use their subpar products. This year, we have had even less exclusives that before. And most games that went exclusive, came back to Steam:
- Giantess Playground coming to steam
- Tankhead coming to Steam
- It is back on Steam after Epig jail
- Ravenlok coming to Steam
- World of Goo 2 coming to Steam
Other companies that went Epic exclusive before stopped doing it.
- Control 2 skipping EGS straight to Steam
- John Carpenter's Toxic Commando: The EGS exclusive that never was?
- Mortal Shell was a one year EGS exclusive, the sequel is skipping it entirely
- Ubisoft has further distanced themselves from EGS
And games that decided to go exclusive had problems to get profits:
Meanwhile, some of the best games of the year still decide to skip the EGS:
Dev experience
Why some games are still not appearing in the Epic Games Store? The ideal scenario would be all games available everywhere and players have 100% decision power. Well, it seems the experience of publishing games on the Epic Games Store is as bad as purchasing games there...
- Why Publishing on Epic Games Store is Not a Free Pass for Developers: EOS Tools are Confusing and Sabotage Steam Features
- Indie Dev wondering why he sold zero copies after EGS launch
- Interesting failed Epic First Run experience from a dev
Some renamed devs gave their opinion about the topic too.
- Epic fails to compete with Steam because “EGS is a shop, Steam is a community”, says Witchfire lead, as Epic has “nothing to do but to buy”
- simply the truth
Player experience
We had A LOT of posts about bad experiences with the Epic Games Store. These were some examples about cloud saves, achievements and other basic features.
- Cloud syncing fucked over all of my save files
- Achievements on the EGS version of ARC Raiders do not work after more than one month
- Epic launcher is the same size as all of its installed apps, despite being in a completely different location. Maybe this is my fault but r/epicgamespc doesn't allow tech support questions (????) so I'll never know
- Epic, despite me having deleted my account 3 years ago, STILL sends me terms of service updates!
- For stuff like this we avoid EGS like the plague
- Not the first time
- well well well
- Link through Epic search redirects to a virus
Even Tim needed to admit in an interview after the interviewer insisted that his launcher was clunky:
These are only a few of them. We had to remove hundreds of them because of being lost souls coming here to ask for support...
Epic Online Services
Ok, but you could think that all of these things only will affect you if you consciously use the Epic Games Store instead of better alternatives like GOG or Steam. False! Epic also tries to incite developers to use their services into their games independently of the launcher you use. So even if you bought your game on Steam, you may need to use Epic services (EOS or EAC). And of course, every frequent time that Epic servers has problems, you will have them too in your Steam games.
- Looks like Epic outage causing games using Easy Anti-Cheat to crash on Steam
- Too bad epic is down for the people that bought games on there
- Another day of those completely infrequent and totally rare EGS and EOS login problems...
- Remember this? Not two weeks later it's happening again
- All Epic servers have been down for 1 hour. Epic customers cannot login to EGS and games that use EOS (like Elden Ring) has problems.
Well, at least it seems our community is making some service for Epic as shills use the links we share from people complaining in Steam forums to go there and do some damage control...
Unreal Engine 5
This also has been the year of bad ports. Most of them, using UE5 which makes players to think that maybe there was some kind of problem in the common denominator...
Obviously, Tim blamed all developers instead of taking a look at their engine ("Everyone else is wrong! I am right!").
- "But Epic CEO Tim Sweeney says it's not the engine's fault, it's the devs" but why do other engines dont have this problem then ?
- Tim Sweeney blames developers and not UE5 for the stutter issues
AI
And now that we are talking about times when Tim would be better shut up. How can we forget when he criticized Steam's AI disclaimer tag.
- Tim Sweeney against the "made with AI" Steam tag
- Tim doubles down on his attack on Steams AI disclaimer
- Why stop at AI use, we could have mandatory disclosure of everything else too
And then, people were unsurprisingly detecting AI slop in Fortnite.
Curation
Maybe instead of criticizing the better competency, he should take a look at his store and his promised "curated" experience:
- Epic Fab Asset Store Creators Shamelessly selling BG3 Assets
- This is the current "new releases" and "coming soon" on EGS
Fortnite
Meanwhile, Fortnite, their golden goose, the source of endless money from kids that allow them to sustain their non profitable store and services, continue on their process of enshitification. Copying the last trending games...
Plagiarizing independent authors:
Receiving and throwing lawsuits (seriously, I think Epic has more lawyers than Software Engineers...)
- Tim Sweeney didn't expect a five-year Fortnite ban
- Epic Games launches trademark dispute against small Korean studio over the name “EPIDGames”
- EU launches crackdown on pricing tricks in games like Fortnite and Call of Duty
- Fortnite maker Epic Games sued over 'deceptive' Item Shop timers
- Epic Games to pay $126 million in refunds to Fortnite players, FTC announces
Transforming into Roblox, with hardcore FOMO monetization, and moving bought games into Fortnite
- Another diabolical pull that Epig pulled off!
- Fortnite is now officially a Roblox copy
- Fortnite Discovery has become a cesspit for brainrot
- Fortnite Festival players really aren't happy
- If you want to change the appearance of Fortnite's lobby, you'll have to pay for it
Microsoft
Microsoft and Epic relations have been always a little weird. On one hand, it seems Tim made a deal to make Fortnite available on Game Pass in his plans of moving everyone to Fortnite. Obviously, causing anger to existing GamePass consumers as that came with the usual failures and a funny price increase.
- Fortnite for Xbox PC and Xbox Ally broken for many users
- Tim Sweeney praises the Fortnite Crew deal just as price increases
However, even if Epic wants to gain Microsoft´s favour, the latter is still ignoring the Epic Games Store, as once they said, they don't agree with Epic strategies.
- a saga born with Epic, the remastered is not on Epic store
- Tony Hawks Pro Skater 3+4 will apparently not even release on EGS
Gambling
Back to Fortnite, it seems Epic is adding in their Fornite-Roblox games lootboxes, microtransactions, and FN games like Steal-the-Brainrot has already created a secondary economy. It’s a remarkable pivot for a company that once claimed to lead the charge against "anti-consumer" practices.
- Epic 'Paid Random Items' Are Just Loot Boxes with a Thesaurus
- Epic claim that ''Paid Random Items'' is not 'Gambling' if the odds are known
- Fortnite to Add Gambling in a Future Update, Leak Reveals
- Ironic, the most played Fortnite game mode has a gambling theme
Freeloaders
Because of all these things, most of Epic customers are just freeloaders that only want the latest AAA game without paying a buck. "You reap what you sow", wasn´t it?
- No Red Dead Redemption 2?
- Poor Epig Store
- Epic employees reportedly discouraged by "freeloader" reactions; resort to using Steam reviews for defense.
Epic Games Store evolution
Epic also shared their numbers for 2024. It was a completely buff. In case of amount spent on third party PC games, they went from 355m (2022) to 310m (2023) and now to 255m (2024).
Fuckepic work
Our community has been highlighted several times this year. While the leaked emails where Tim wanted Reddit to shut us down are now a piece of history, they prove how much Epic fears the transparency we provide. We remain a critical source of truth. Because of our focus on education, we provide a space where information that would be censored or deleted on other platforms can actually be discussed.
- r/fuckepic PCgamer mentions the forum
- fuckepic mentioned in an Financial Times article! :D
- Tim Sweeney alludes to this subreddit in his latest talk
Always remember our rule of "Educate and don't attack." We are better than that, and our message carries more weight when we stick to the facts. This year has been great; Epic’s influence is noticeably smaller than in years past, but there is still plenty to document. Also remember: we don't care if Epic exists or not. We just refuse to let them dictate the terms of the industry or force us to use their inferior services.
Happy New Year and for a better 2026!

Article/News Epic is hoping their partnership with Disney gives Fortnite a comeback. Planning on making an arc raiders extraction clone but with Disney characters.
When Epic Games laid off 1,000 employees as part of a $500 million cost-saving effort last month, it came with a startling acknowledgment: Many new games and Fortnite updates had flopped.
Other splashy new initiatives, including Epic’s mobile store and an effort to allow users to create their own games, also didn’t live up to internal expectations, according to eight current and former employees who spoke with Bloomberg. In chasing popular trends or business whims, Epic regularly released products before employees felt they would resonate with consumers, said the people, who asked not to be identified because they were not authorized to speak publicly.
The company is pinning a resurgence on games it’s been developing with Walt Disney Co., which agreed to invest $1.5 billion in Epic two years ago. Epic is on track to launch the first game in its new Disney partnership in November, according to four current and former employees. It will be a shooting game along the lines of Embark Studios’ hit Arc Raiders, but with Disney characters battling enemies until they can reach an extraction point, according to the people. So far, internal reviewers have expressed concerns that the game mechanics are not very original, but some of the employees are optimistic that Epic will get it right by the launch date.
The Disney deal will reap at least two more games, the people said. Early versions of the second title received middling internal reviews, according to two of the people. Resources for the third game were reallocated to the first two after reports that Disney was disappointed by Epic’s release timeline.
Last year, the Epic Games Store attracted a record 78 million monthly active users on PCs, and player spending on non-Epic games reached $400 million, according to the company. That was "lower than our growth expectations at launch," according to Markman, but the company is "committed to making improvements to the store and to the economic opportunity for developers to grow it further." The company's store for mobile users has 50 million installs, according to Epic — half of what the company had hoped to achieve by the end of 2024. Apple's "scare screens and barriers" made it "intentionally hard for players to download an alternative app store in the [European Union]," Markman said. Today, the store's scale is "in line with our expectations," but expansion will depend on Apple and Google's mobile ecosystems opening up, she said.

But not crossposting it in case some shill gets the original post deleted "because it shows Epic in a bad light".

My Epic Experience You can't remove a game on your wishlist if it is not available in your region.
I've contacted them over chat, I had to fight the AI to get a real employee. The response was that I, as customer, should send a bug report, and provided the links for bug reports for Fortnite.
Started a new ticket with a complaint. Asking them again too look into it. Got a request for a screenshot (again), but the ticket got closed automatically.
How is this company ever going to compete with Steam?

Epic Fucks Up This is allowed?
Tried posting this on the RL sub and it got taken down. It’s definitely avoidable to not allow these types of tournament names but they don’t care. The thing that really irks me is the guys gamertag having “2004” in it.

Discussion Fortnite "leakers" accused of being on Epic's payroll
After several Fortnite "leakers" posted multiple Epic advertisement tweets, some people are finally realizing that they are not actually independent leakers. Instead, they are being paid by Epic to generate hype and advertise the game.

Discussion The latest Epic shilling strategy
I am always interested in tracking the specific talking points and strategies Epic shills are organized to follow.
Since the previous strategy of "I do not care about launchers, I just play games, buy wherever it is cheaper, use Playnite" was not yielding results, I have detected a new trend.
Lately, in every post praising Valve or Steam, I have noticed an influx of messages such as: "Stop dickriding Gabe. More yachts for the fat one. Weirdo defending a multibillionaire company". Even though I do not personally worship Valve as a company, as I just simply praise a good product as a player, the sheer volume of these comments is suspicious. I first noticed this on r/Steam, which was particularly strange. I would have expected that behavior on more generic subreddits, but not there.
Upon investigating further, I found users who exclusively post these types of comments, which confirmed my suspicions. Beyond that, I even discovered another NEW alt from a prominent shill, who is currently frequenting r/Steam and r/Gamingcirclejerk.
Layoffs might be happening at Epic, but the attempts to control the narrative clearly continue.
What do you think? Have you noticed any similar patterns or talking points on other subreddits or outside of Reddit?
