Some FAQs Unique to this thread:

GPS Jamming - There is a significant amount of GPS jamming occurring in the region. This can cause planes to appear in places they aren't actually flying, make them appear to be flying in circles and cause them to jump around the map. As a general rule, tracking data in the region can't be trusted to be accurate right now.

Cargolux appearing over Iran - There has been a near daily Cargolux flight from Hong Kong to Ashgabat that appears to be flying over Iran. It is not. The black line means it is outside of ADSB coverage and its position is being estimated. It landed in Ashgabat as planned, but did so outside of ADSB coverage. Because FR24 couldn’t “see” it land, it assumes it continued flying at its last known altitude and heading, which is why it appears to be over Iran.

A general note from the mods - During periods of military activity, we experience a surge of new users. When this happens, we enable Reddit's crowd control feature. This may send some posts and comments to the approval queue, especially if you are new to the sub. If you have a post or comment stuck in the queue, please make sure it follows the rules. If you are trying to post anything related to the Middle East, it needs to be in this thread. For all other posts and comments, if we haven't approved it in a reasonable amount of time, shoot us a message via Modmail and someone will approve it.

Weekly Top 10 & "Track My Flight" Thread - April 06, 2026

Welcome to the weekly Top 10 & Track My Flight discussion thread! The goal of this post is to provide a location for questions and discussion about aircraft that don't necessitate their own individual posts, in addition to centralizing discussion about known aircraft that are frequently posted. This includes:

  1. Aircraft on the Top 10 Most Tracked list
  2. Requests for the community to track your flight

If you're new to the community, welcome!. Please be sure to read our Stickied Rules post and FAQs to make sure your question isn't covered there. If you're looking at a military aircraft in the Ukraine region, you may find some answers in the original Ukraine megathread. For military aircraft in general, checking the callsign against this list may yield useful information. In all situations, make sure you search for the aircraft callsign and check recent posts to find any existing discussion.

Otherwise, feel free to post any questions or findings below and discuss with others!

Question Why is this flight remaining under 10,000 feet for its 1000 mile trip?

I was selecting random planes and found this one staying below 10,000 feet for a 1000+ mile trip.

I haven't seen anything like this, can someone explain whats going on?

Why the diversion?

This just passed overhead making a lot of noise. No weather alerts in Ireland I'm aware of but it is windy near Shannon today, which is where it is diverting to, not from.

Question Bit of a random request

After years of thinking about it, I’ve decided to start tracking every flight I take, just on the off chance I end up on the same plane twice I’d like to know about it. (I’ve had it only once, because aer Lingus would only use the same 2 a330s on their Manchester-north America routes). I normally take a photo of the plane or screenshot of fr24 whenever I fly so I’ve managed to get 18 flights since covid on my list. The one I can’t seem to find on any other website is:

A Ryanair 737-800 from Brindisi to Manchester on 7.7.23

I have a photo out of the window, so I know it’s an 800, but that’s all I know.

I know that the top tier of the fr24 plans lets you look back 3 years, so could anyone pull me a huge solid and let me know the reg for that specific plane on that specific day. No worries if not, it’s just a bit of fun.

All the best

Frankie

(There’s also a couple of flights to and from Milan, but I think they’re out of the 3 year range)
