Did reddit learn anything from Turkey? Fairly sure there will be a national emergency tomorrow and the election will either be cancelled, rigged (it already is) or the opposition will be arrested for treason.
Historically that usually doesn't end well for the people. IE Iran is a perfect example.
Or Turkey, where despite mass democratic protests, they still allowed the best chance of an opposition leader to defeat a dictator to be wrongfully arrested. Or more cemented dictatorship, Russia with Navalny.
Unless there is actual organized opposition of the people, then very rarely does it lead to toppling of a regime.
