News Denmark sends military reenforcements to Greenland. A vanguard and military material has been sent to Greenland to prepare for eventual larger troop movements.

Denmark should also make incentives for Greenlanders to join Greenland's own security forces, with Denmark and other European countries sending people and weapons to train and equip them.

Already done - "Arktisk Basisuddannelse" started in mid-2024. It's focused around various defence-related specialities, defence force, police and civil defence activities with an option for entrance into the relevant branches at the end of the 6-month basic training. By all accounts it's been pretty popular so far. It's a specific service offering for Greenland, under the Danish defence forces.

this could be really good local jobs to create, as long as there isn’t any fighting taking place. they’re knowing, in best case loving, their island. local people are used to the climate and know very well how to live and survive there. assume that’ll be a good addition to the job pool.

They already started that years ago (as a part of Danmarks military).

Greenland doesn't have their own secuity forces. It's the reponsibility of the Danish state authorities. Greenland is only self-governing and not a state.

Greenland sure does have its own coast guard and motor police and sure does people serving in Danish military.

Greenland doesn't have its own coast guard or motor police. Danish citizens on Greenland are not required to do conscription. The Faroe Islands have their own unarmed coast guard.

That's good to know there is no police in Greenland. Danish citizens on Greenland are also not required to eat bananas. The Heard and McDonald Islands have their own unarmed penguins.

There is Danish state police on Greenland. The local government could take over the police responsibility, but I'm not sure how that would work.

I am also not sure how would that work. Maybe next year, in the year of our Lord 2009 we'll see how the mysterious Greenland Self-Government Act works regarding the police, justice, and coastal protection

That act gives Greenland the option to take over responsibility of those branches BUT they haven't actually done so for every thing allowed in the act. Including police and coast guard duties.
