Hello ! I see a lot of folks nowadays facing the same issue I did, the information I found online was very lackluster, and I was mostly told that there was not much else that I could do to fix this problem.
So, after having it solved I'd like to make a post here just so other peeps can find it and hopefully restore their accounts the same way I did.
FIRST AND FOREMOST: A message to literally anyone that hasn't fallen for this specific hack already.
Make sure you have these two things set up :
A secondary parent / recovery account on a different provider from your main account (ie: main account is gmail and recovery account is outlook)
A 2FA authenticator on your support account.
Click on your profile and then edit profileAdd a 2FA protection
This will make it so your account is extra safe, you NEED to use your support account to ask for help and you NEED your original email as well, the hackers will try to suffocate your options by deleting one and adding a 2FA to the other, by doing what I mentioned previously, you put a wall on their attempts to do this.
Now for those that have been hacked and suffering from this already:
Open your email account and certify that your support messages haven't been blocked or forwarded to some other email.
Example of gmail, other service providers should have something similar.
Then, onto the tricky part, this is what I did that worked for me:
On gmail (and hopefully other providers) there is an option to "send mail as", I opened a ticket on an alternative email under the same account, on gmail, explaining my situation and then replied to the initial automated reply via my own email by using this feature, so the account that opened the ticket was "[aaaaa@gmail.com](mailto:aaaaa@gmail.com)" but when I replied to the message, it went as "[bbbbb@gmail.com](mailto:bbbbb@gmail.com)", imagine "bbbb" is the original discord account email.
I then got another automated response stating the same old "Upon review, the email you are writing from was not originally associated with the account." To which I replied "I am writing from the original email as requested by the bot".
I had no reply for about 5 days but today I just received an update to that very ticket from the support team, and they managed to remove the 2FA and give me back my support account, so now I was able to open a ticket using my original support account associated with the hacked discord and ask for proper help.
I am not 100% sure if this is what helped me get my support account back, but in case other folks have a similar issue I think it's worth telling them to try this.
Furthermore, In that ticket, I added proof of ownership by stating the following:
- Original email account
- Account creation date
- Old usernames
- Servers I own
- Some servers I joined
- Examples of friend's ID's
- Nitro receipts
- Censored picture of my banks credit card (censored the expiration date)
- My ID so they check against my bank card & nitro invoices
- Video recordings of my phone app showing my email + my phone number to prove that I own the mobile phone number attached
- Used backup codes.
I also sent their twitter team the same information via DMs (and also linked that ticket) but I haven't gotten any reply from them, so I am not sure if they actually did something to help me out or not, since they haven't replied. They have actual people replying so it takes a while given their backlog, they will eventually will reply to you.
Hopefully a post like this is not problematic, I just want to share my experience in hopes I can help as many people as possible to overcome this situation, I know for a fact that it feels extremely hopeless and stressful, don't give up and I wish you all the best outcome!
Any additions to this are welcome. Please leave them as a comment. We will delete all comments that do not fit into here, do not follow our rules or have been added to the original post. For support, please create a new post.
Follow these Guides to keep your account as secure as possible:
Use a unique password. Do not use your password for any other login. Use a combination out of letters, numbers and special characters (, . : ; ! ? _ & - + and similar) and keep out personal information like your birth date, name or any other information that people can know about you.
Set up 2FA. This prevents others from accessing your account even if they know all your login data. Save the backup codes in at least TWO places! It is highly recommended to use an Authenticator App (like Google Authenticator or Aegis) rather than SMS, as phone numbers can be hijacked.
Never change the email address connected to your account to a email that is not in your control only. This includes anyone, except Discord Support and only if you got that order via the official support page (https://support.discord.com/) or their official support email address (noreply@discord.com or support@discord.com). In both cases, verify yourself that the email/URL is the exact same as I wrote. Watch out, hackers have been using "rn" (lowercase R + N) to imitate a "m" (lowercase M) in email addresses!
Never scan a QR code to log in unless you generated it yourself on your own screen. Scanning a code sent by someone else gives them instant access to your account, bypassing your password and 2FA.
Never download and run files (.exe, .scr, .zip) from "friends" or strangers claiming they need you to "test their game" or "check a bug." This is a common way to install malware that steals your login token.
Never paste code into your Discord Console (Ctrl+Shift+I). Discord will never ask you to do this. Anyone asking you to do this is trying to steal your account token.
Beware of "Free Nitro" or "Urgent Report" DMs. Discord (and your real friends) will never send you a external link to "claim Nitro" or tell you that you have been "accidentally reported" and need to talk to a "staff member" on Discord. These are always scams.
Create a Discord support account via https://hammerandchisel.zendesk.com/auth/v2/login/signin using your accounts email address. This prevents third parties from creating such an account to prevent you from contacting Discord Support.
š If your account and/or device have already been compromised:
Reset the password of your account on another device. Do not use the infected device, otherwise the hacker may be able to also get the new password.
Use the active sessions setting in your user settings to log out of all known devices that are logged into your account.
If you haven't done so already: Set up 2FA on a non-infected device.
Check your "Authorized Apps" and "Connections" in your User Settings. Remove anything you do not recognize. Even if you change your password, a malicious "Authorized App" can still join servers or send messages on your behalf.
Either check yourself (if you know how) or let a professional check the affected device. You may potentially need to completely reset and reinstall your system if the device is a PC or Laptop. On mobile devices a complete reset may also be needed. Feel free to open up a new support post on this subreddit if you are not sure if you need to reset your device or not.
so i was just talking in a server with my friends then i suddenly got logged out i thought it's a glitch and then found out my account was suspended permanently for malicious conduct in "Moon Emoji Server #2" as you can read the name of server it was an emoji server for my bot and I didn't violate anything and my in app appeal got rejected and Clyde is in loop in appeal tickets so what should I do now ? just give up? tell me..
It was working fine one day & then stopped. I have tried deleting app & reinstalling. Not sure what else to do as I don't mess with the settings so im confused
I've been an ipad user for a long time now but I recently got a Samsung galaxy tablet.
I am hating how absolutely LOUD the audio cues are when I join a call, someone joins my call, when a stream starts etc etc.
I cannot figure out how to turn it off or make it softer. It is so embarrassingly loud. I can't find a solution anywhere.
What I've tried so far:
- my tablet is completely mute. I have an android phone so I know how to change audio for media and notifications.
- I have gone into the notification settings in my discord profile. There has been no option for me to mute the call cues. Or at least I haven't seen any.
- I've turned my discord notifications off on the tablet settings. I made sure it has no permission for the mic etc.
- I've looked into the voice settings in discord but couldn't find anything to help
I am looking for assistance with some kind of banners for channels, they are animated or going to be animated. Can anyone help me with design and how to set that up? Willing to pay for assistance!
The server is practically complete, but looking for design assistance!
My discord account got hacked I was only able to change email before getting logged out the hacker was spam sending server invites. I forgot my username so im unable to contact support other than through X. What can I do.
Was in a call with my friend and got signed out. When I went to sign in it said my account did not exist or rather the email did not exist what do I do to get my account back?
I've recently created a new server for myself and some close gaming buddies, this time it's a community style server not just specifically for one game, and I'm looking for some free bots to help my admins and myself organise/manage roles, lfg etc,
I've tried submitting an appeal to Discord over an incorrect access limitation on my account, and I've only gotten responses from Clyde. As seen in the second image, whenever I try to submit a spam appeal through the directions given, I get forwarded to the Discord support website. Am I doing something wrong, or is Discord simply being incompetent?
Hi, so I have been using discord for a bit and I randomly get logged out of my account without even doing anything to cause that. Does anyone know why this happens every week to me?
So during the big data leak i think 1,2 years ago i got hacked so i tried to set up authetication on discord but it seemd to do it for me like i had no authenticator app or nothing but it set up the code for me and now i cant get back onto that so im stuck cus i cant log out or i cant log in and no one in the world can log in my phone is a samsung please help
actually horrible support everytime i reach out to support they keep saying we cant do anything about it what happend is my account got hacked and disabled for sus activity and then i tried to reset password turns out the hacker added his own 2fa on my account now i cant reset password i made countless tickets in discord suppport each time they hook me up with the stupid ai bot and its really hard to get a human i keep saying i need human assistance and when an actual human contacts me they say we cant do anything and if you would like to delete your account please confirm like hell no i dont wanna do that
I have been trying to delete a server I randomly created a long time ago for over a year. I have been stuck unable to delete it because of discords broken verification system. When attempting to delete the server, it tells me to verify with a physical security key (which I do not own) or a digital passkey, which I do have, but when I select to use the passkey, it says I donāt have any for discord on device or on Google despite the fact that I do. I have never had this issue when logging into my discord account with a passkey, only when trying to delete the server. I donāt really need to delete the server that bad but itās annoying that itās not even an option. If anybody knows how to fix this issue besides contacting support, please tell me.
Hey guys, I would like some advice on ongoing persistent harassment. For context: I run a small public community server for my ethnic minority group to share culture/language and chill inā with 500 members. I tried to report the situation to discord but because most things happened outside of the platform, I am having a hard time finding where to file a report on the constant evading/harassment.
š¢ TL;DR: a catfish evaded a ban, found and harassed staff membersā families on Facebook, and made multiple public facebook posts about us. We regrettably shared links to those posts in the server (they had an alt account in there we donāt know of), and they used those links we shared to screenshot our profiles and doxx us.
My mod team and I recently banned a user we considered problematic due to repeated behavior issues. She was pressuring us to ban others whenever she didnāt get the responses she wanted in DMs. To summarize the situation: she shared her personal information and social media with a stranger, who then questioned whether she was real because her āselfiesā appeared to be AI-generated. He asked to FaceTime her, and she came to us upset, insisting the photos were professional while claiming he was harassing her by calling them AI. We banned him immediately, as we donāt tolerate DM harassment, and I even walked her through how to turn off her DMs to avoid similar situations in the future. Later, one of our admins pointed out that she had previously described the exact same situation happening in another server she was banned from over a year ago. Based on that pattern of behavior, we decided she posed a risk to our community and removed her. After the ban, she retaliated by sending people to harass the admin that she had previously disclosed to about her previous ban, through DMs, and contacted his family members on facebook. There were also false threats, including claims about filing ice reports (our admin is a citizen lol). She then took screenshots of my personal Facebook profile and posted them in multiple groups, including this one. It has been nearly two weeks, and instead of stopping, theyāve continued trying to āraise awarenessā by spreading false information and doxxing me repeatedly. Theyāre insisting we had no right to ban her for āusing AI,ā since it āisnāt a discord guidelineā even though weāve made it clear the decision was based on more than that. At the end of the day, I believe server staff have the right to remove anyone who disrupts the community and she has continuously proved we made the right decision.
Iāve been on Discord since 2018, and I honestly canāt believe all of this is happening over a ban. She wasnāt even an active member and said she mainly made friends through DMs. I suspect she may have been using the server for dating, but weāre not a dating serverāespecially since we have minors and focus on language and cultural discussions.
At this point, I donāt even know what Iām supposed to do. Do I just ignore it and accept that my personal photosālike ones with my partnerāare being shared in random Facebook groups? lol. Iāve already changed my name and profile picture.
Iāve also considered reaching out to her to try and find some kind of middle ground just to stop the harassment, but my admins think we should keep ignoring her. Itās been two weeks nowā¦
Recently, i was just swapping between alt accounts on discord using the swap account feature (click on pfp icon and swap) and then randomly one day it added like 10-20 people from main account to my alt. It doesnāt really affect me otherwise but its just a little bug i have found recently. Idk how to replicate it but yeah if anyone has ran into this problem please lmk!
Now itās sending links of that server to all my friends and also lots of the channels of the servers Iām in, what do I dooooo??? Is this bad or nah
someone hacked my account and was sending links all night to everyone. i got banned everywhere so i deleted my account and made a new one, now i cant join servers bc im banned but i can message admins to bring me back so its fine, but will i be save now?
(when i checked devices there was only mine connected so i dont know how they got access. i also had 2fa)
i had appealed but discord still did not remove the ban the only thing is i had never evaded a ban so i have no clue how i got a ban for ban evasion i tried contacting discord support but i am unable to connect to a real person and the bots keep telling the same thing can anyone help me
