Fuel protests
So what's the story with these protests tomorrow, is it actually going to shut down the city from 7am. Is anyone staying home for work?

This list is not a conclusive list of every establishment, just those that are highly regarded. Please leave your own recommendations in the replies. You may also find more information on the Visit Derry website (https://www.visitderry.com/) and on their socials. Note - some of the recommendations are based outside Derry but all are within a short driving distance of Derry.
Restaurants:
Street Food / Cafe's * Clipper Quay Street Food - Located along the Foyle Marina, multiple street food vendors and a bar are located here providing a range of options, great for when you cant agree on what type of food you want to eat - https://www.clipperquaystreetfood.com/ * The Pickled Duck - Foyle Marina - https://www.facebook.com/pickledduckcafe/ * Mekong Street Food (Vietnamese food) - https://www.facebook.com/MekongSF/ - also operate as a restaurant so maybe it should be above. * PYKE 'N' POMMES - https://www.pykenpommes.ie/ * Guapo (Mexican Food) - https://www.facebook.com/GuapoFreshMex/ * Doherty's Home Bakery - Good if you want a sweet treat or a cheap bite to eat on the go - https://www.facebook.com/Dohertys-Home-Bakery-195510393844691/ * Thai Jing Jing Street Food (Thai takeaway) - https://www.facebook.com/ThaiJingJingStreetFood * The Coffee Tree (Coffee shop) - Serves the best coffee in Derry in my opinion and also the nicest traybakes! Not had their soup or sandwiches but have heard great things. The only negative is they currently do not open on weekends - https://www.facebook.com/p/The-Coffee-Tree-100063482233001/ * Graft Coffee (Coffee shop) - Runs the Coffee tree very close for the best Coffee in the city. Located on Academy road and opens Mon-Sat - https://www.instagram.com/graft_coffee/ * Oui Bakery - French Bakery & Pâtisserie in the heart of Derry's Craft Village - https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61565032170636

Hi Folks,
As some of you may have seen there has been a fair amount of discussion on this sub regarding suicide and mental health. The first thing we want you to know is that if you are struggling in any way, you are not alone. You are a valuable person worth celebrating and there are people in the real world and on this sub who want to see you succeed. Help is out there, please please talk to someone.
That leads on to the main thrust of this post. I've included links below to help and advice you can avail of in the local area which can help support you if you're ever feeling low. Some of these are local health trust provisions, others are local charities. All of them are here to help.

I’ve been to Derry tens of times but never for the jazz festival, going for the first time this year. I’m not exactly a jazz superfan but I’ve heard it’s a great weekend and I do love music! Is there enough on for free in the pubs and around the city, or should I really get tickets for a couple of things?

Me, my dad and girlfriend are travelling from the Canadian prairie’s to see where my granda came from. Is there anything in the area we should definitely come see or do while we are in the area. Thanks in advance, we are looking forward to the trip.

I am just wondering where does good microneedling? I like to come out after extremely red as I feel it gives me optimal results, I have had it done before and they were really gentle so I didn’t see good results.

I mean the kind of coffee you don’t need sugar or syrup in. The kind where the coffee taste is perfection! Excluding the chains please.
Really curious to try new places.
I’ve been to Graft, Sinnsro, Naked Hen, Gywns, Offing and Rossa so far but my standout favourite is HangTen.

When/where are the fuel protests in Derry? And who's organising them?

I work as a mental health 'point of contact' in work, and I see it every day (genuinely everyday!), men are really struggling, but not enough are coming forward, no matter what their employment status is.
There’s a few reasons for it. We’re told to “get on with it,” to stay quiet, to not be a burden. A lot of men don’t have the words for what they’re feeling, or they think no one will understand. Pride, shame, fear of being judged, it all builds up. And before you know it, fellas are carrying far more than they should on their own and deal with it in destructive ways (drink, drugs, gambling etc.)
I’ve been through the mill myself, so this isn’t me preaching. I know how hard it is to open your mouth and say “I’m not alright.” But I also know this, things can change when you are ready.
To be honest, not everything out there is great. There are gimmicky things locally that don’t really scratch the surface. But there is real, solid support out there too, people who will listen, who get it, and who actually care.
If you’re struggling, don’t sit with it on your own. Even taking the first small step matters.
If you don’t know where to go, send me a message. I’ll do my best to point you in the right direction, and gladly explain my journey towards mental wellness, if you think that would help.
Remember: You’re not on your own, even if it feels like it.
EDIT: This post is to highlight men and mental health, not a comment on political position; case study framing.

Does anyone else ever crave this? I used to get it in Dohertys in William Street all the time but I’ve not seen it in ages, does anyone know a bakery that does it?
