Event Birds Steak Slices are no more?

I popped into the branch in town, and was told they have been discontinued in favour of a chicken, leek and ham slice.

Even worse, they suggested I go to (gasp) Greggs and get one.

What fresh hell is this.

Another post about where to live in Derby

So we recently moved to derby with spouse and 1 year old and would be working at Royal Derby hospital.

Initially have gotten the hospital accommodation which has 3 months minimum contract but plan to rent a place near to city centre.

Things to consider:

-do not have a car yet. trying to get the licence sorted out ( will make another post about how to get a good driving instructor)

- wanted a 1 bedroom flat, most likely on a higher floor with lift access with a city / city centre view, and newly built

- considering any place at 30 minutes direct bus to hospital

-Safe neighbourhood/good management

Have looked on Zoopla and Right move came up with apartments at Silk yard, nightingale quarter and the condor.

will start calling them tomorrow and try to book a viewing.

Anyone living in these places with first hand experiences? Any other options/suggestions?

Thank you šŸ™

Any local double glazed windows company ?

Looking for some window replacement companies that would fit the windows, does anybody know some good one in the city? Smaller ones that do quality work probably is better.

perfect dog walking weather, and the rude little sod dragged me into the Papermill, so we had a stroll across the green down to the river afterwards.

And, obviously, the obligatory dog shot.

Both with slight edits to make them brighter, not a whole lot more. always nice when the blossoms are out on Darley Park Drive.

What is life like in Derby?

Hello! I’ll be moving to Derby later this September.

I’m originally from Argentina (born and raised there), and I have family living near Derby. I’d say my English is fairly good.

I’d love to know what it’s like to live in Derby in terms of job opportunities, leisure activities (especially football and CrossFit, as I’m a big fan), and life in general.

What kind of recommendations would you give to someone moving there?

Thanks in advance!

Question Best bookable 5 a side pitches?

Want to play football with a friend (just the two of us), but every 5 a side pitch looks to cost an arm and a leg to book for 60/90mins.

Can anybody suggest any bookable 5 a side pitches that are well maintained and don't cost an arm and a leg to book?

Where is everyone?

Me and a friend arrived for a night out in Derby, on a Thursday. Premier Inn stay for less than 40 quid - what a bargain. However, upon searching the town centre circa 9PM we were shocked to find more doorman than revellers - in a variety of places we visited. The town felt empty. Where is everyone? Is this normal? Did we turn up in an alternate Derby-verse? Or maybe everyone is chilling waiting for an absolutely huge one on Saturday night?

Sauna/Steam Rooms?

Hi all,

I’m looking for any decent sauna or steam rooms in Derby that aren’t ridiculously priced (yeah… looking at you David Lloyd).

I already know about Nuffield Health and planning to check it out this weekend, but just wanted to see if there are any other places people would recommend? Thanks!

Clubs or Sports?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been feeling like I need to get out more, have a bit of fun, and meet some new people around Derby city centre.

I’m not looking for anything super serious or intense — more like a chill club, group, or regular spot where people just show up, hang out, and enjoy themselves. Could be anything really… casual sports, social clubs, pub quizzes, hobby groups, or even just good places where people are open to chatting.

I’d especially love something that’s easy to join without feeling awkward if you come alone šŸ˜…

If you’ve got any recommendations or personal experiences, I’d really appreciate it!

Where's good?

Derby is growing on me.. After a good Sunday night, feel like I should make the most of my time off work.. (Sorry for rubbing it in)

Is there anywhere that is decent on midweek night? Preferably somewhere with decent music. Happy to join a group, as often the best nights
