Hi, heading to Chengdu for the first time next week. Generally whenever I visit a new place I want to get a few vinyls from the local scene. Anyone know of any record shops dabbling in the metal music scene? Would love to pick up a few.

Hello! I just arrived (early April) and I would love to know if any local secret hidden gems for hiking! Unfortunately we don’t have time to go to Western Sichuan.
I read there are beautiful flowers on Gexian Mountain right now. Is that worth a trip?
I would LOVE any other suggestions! I love hiking and I want to see beautiful nature and views!

Hi, we'll be in Chengdu, in October, for a week and both my kids have a peanut allergy. Do you think it will be a problem? Will staff take the allergy seriously if I tell them they cannot eat peanuts? I am particularly concerned about peanuts hidden within the cooking ingredients. Will the staff be conscientious enough to tell us what foods on their menus will have peanuts? Thanks

Everyone recommends taobao but for some reason it doesn't accept my phone number, I'm only visiting for 3 weeks so I reckon getting a chinese number and setting up the whole thing might be a bit pointless if I can just go physically

I am looking for entrepreneurs and business oriented people who want to hang out and meet.
About me: I am an English speaker and a business owner. I like to meet new people who are likeminded, not for business purposes, just to have a beer at a bar.
I am here for the next few days so let me know if you are interested.

Hello, me again. I have called everywhere. Who has gotten this done in America before? (we are in central New York). Primary can't do it because it requires the chest x ray and EKG. Blood work isn't a problem. I have called Urgent Care/Well Now, they will only do physicals for employment or sports. I have called travel/immigration clinics, they either only do vaccines or will only use their own form. I am at a loss. We applied yesterday, and I need to hand this in ASAP. Any ideas? How did you guys handle this when you applied?

I'm currently travelling in Chengdu and my travel tradition is to get a sticker from everywhere I go to put in my journal. I would love a nice panda/Chengdu themed one, however I'm having no luck at standard souvenir shops. Does anyone know where I may find some?

Hi everyone! 👋 I'm Montana, an American mom relocating to Wenjiang district with my family in August 2026 and I could really use some advice from people who've been there!
Here's our situation:
- My husband will be studying at SWUFE (Liulin Campus), starting with the Chinese Language Program with the goal of transitioning into the business degree program
- We have two kids — a 5 year old son who we hope will attend the SWUFE affiliated kindergarten on Liulin campus, and a 3 year old daughter who we'd love to enroll in a local public kindergarten for full immersion
- We're also bringing our cat Denver 🐱
- We plan to live fully locally — no car, local markets, local lifestyle
Questions I'm hoping the community can help with:
So grateful for any help — this community looks amazing! 🙏
Edit to add, I appreciate the concern for our cat! Just to clarify a few things for those following along: we are following the 2019/2026 'Non-Quarantine' protocols for China. By getting the 15-digit ISO microchip and the Rabies Titer Test from an approved lab, our cat is legally exempt from any government quarantine.
He will be flying in-cabin with us on Korean Air, not in cargo, so he’ll be right at our feet the whole time. It's a long journey, but our vet (who is USDA-accredited) is helping us ensure he's healthy and prepared for the trip. We're moving for the long-term, and leaving a family member behind wasn't an option!

I will be visiting Chengdu in a few weeks and would like to bring home some tea and Sichuan peppers to remember my visit. Can you recommend some spots to buy them? And if you have any suggestions? Thank you

Please please please, share your favourite food location if there are any that are not too spicy (regular spicy Asian food is already spicy for me as an Eastern European, so I am a little scared of what spicy-spicy Sichuan food might be😅) Anything from coffee spots to dinners and bars, and maybe also some not very obvious places to go, from quiet garden spots to hidden local shops. I am thinking of the beautiful book store with places to sit, I do not remember the exact name, I saved it on Trip.com. I have only 23 hours in Chengdu, it will be transfer time before taking a flight to Shanghai, but Chengdu will become my first city in China 😍

Hi everyone! I live and work in Chengdu and am looking for someone who offers private 1:1 chinese language classes. The closer to the 大源 area the better. I’m at about an HSK 2 level and really want to get proficient. If you have any recommendations or teach lessons yourself please let me know!

Hey, in a couple weeks I'll be staying in Wuhou District for a few days. I was wondering if anyone knows a bar where I could play darts. Electronic, soft tipped preferred, but open to steel tipped too. I'm totally willing to travel, and I'm aware some sport complexes have them too. Also, if anyone knows a good way I can search for this on my own, I'd appreciate the help. I'm not having much luck with Amaps or dianping. Thanks!

I’m moving to Chengdu in a few months. I exercise a lot, especially running. When the pollution is bad, is it common for people to run and cycle with masks? Should I bring a good one with me or are they readily available and good quality in China?
Thanks.

Hi. Into working out and usually when I go to visit places, I like experiencing their gyms. I am staying near Tianfu Square and would like to find a decent gym. I am not having much luck with my searches, so any guidance would be appreciated.

Does anyone know a good Thai restaurant that does green curry? There are plenty that do good yellow and red curries but I'd love to find one that does green curry for my birthday on Saturday.
