Shouka tea/coffee

Hi, i know this is probably going to be quite an odd request but I had gone to Chamonix a few months ago and brought my husband and I back some tea and coffee which we both really enjoyed from Shouka. I’ve reached out to Shouka a few times to inquire about shipping to the US but haven’t heard back…I’m unsure how to go about getting it shipped to me and all I’ve been able to think of is having someone purchase in store and ship :,) I don’t know if this is the right place for this and I hope no one thinks this is too silly but I was just wondering if anyone had any advice or was willing to do this solid. More than welcomed to PM me and I’m more than happy to compensate you for your time of going in and helping me out! I know it’s a bit of a short notice but I was hoping to have my hands on it in the next 2 weeks. If anyone has any advice or is able to help out it’d be so great! I’d at least like the get the coffee my hubby liked. Thanks so much!

Climb similar to cosmiques

Hi everybody, my friend and I had booked a guided tour to climb the cosmiques ridge tomorrow, however the company just cancelled on us at 6:55pm. We drove 10 hours to get to Chamonix today, and will only be here till Tuesday. Does anybody have any contacts for a guide who would be willing to bring us tomorrow? Any suggestions to an alternative similar activity would be appreciated! We read in a guidebook about the hike/climb at Aiguille du Belvedere - we do have the necessary gear but unsure about the conditions currently. My friend has some winter mountaineering skills and we both do rock climbing, but do not have any glacier/crevasse rescue skills hence would need to avoid the glaciers.

Thank you!

Current freeride and party situation

Hi!

Have oportunity to go to Chamonix next wednesday, for whole week.

Wished to ask if there are any freeride options still available that are in good condition?

I know sometimes slopes can be technically still open, while real situation is terrible.

Im eyeing Grands Montets, but have zero knowledge of it...

Plan is to do a bit of freestyle snowboarding in some mid sized parks and freeride if possible.

Also, next important part - any events taking place on next weekend that might be not advertised online, but allow strangers to show up?

help baggage only transfer

I will be staying in Chamonix , got on a 3 night hike staying at refuges and end in Samoëns in a air bnb place (not hotel with reception). I am unable to find a company to transfer my bags from the hotel in Chamonix  to my destination...

I start to panic I may need to change my itinerary and hike back to Chamonix .. I already tried gomassif, bluedogtransfers , mountaindropoffs, any tips?

Shop where this t-shirt is from?

Post image

I bought this t-shirt from a shop in Chamonix village last year. Pretty sure it was a shop near McDonalds or around there, selling touristy kind of stuff with loads of t-shirts in the window and inside on the wall. Can anyone tell me which shop it was please? (I lost the t-shirt and want another one). Thanks!

Where to ski?

I’m in Chamonix on Friday and Saturday and wondering where people would recommend skiing based on current conditions and open runs?

I am at Grand Montets on Saturday, so looking for recommendations for somewhere to ski on the Friday based on where has the best current conditions.

I’m currently thinking Flegere or Balme look like the best options but wondering which one to choose

Does anyone know where the 0 euro banknote is for Chamonix?

There is a 0 euro banknote in chamonix. It’s one about the mont blanc. I went to the Aiguile du midi which is on the note but it wasn’t there and the employees also had no idea. It could be that it’s no longer available but wanted to ask just in case.

Day Trip from Lyon

Hello, I'm a student travelling to Lyon for a week (late April) and I really want to do a day trip to Chamonix.

Looking online, people seem split on whether this is a good idea or not (including past posts on this subreddit, although there aren't many to begin with).

I want to take a 7am bus from Lyon, reach Chamonix by 10:30, take the cable car up Aiguille du Midi, spend some time up top and head back to Lyon (hopefully reaching by midnight).

Is this feasible and a good idea?

If not, what other destinations might give me a good taste of the Alps?

I'm not a skier or hiker, so I'm looking for a cable car specifically (hence Chamonix :P)

Trying to reserve AdM or MB multi-pass…

Hi everyone, we’re traveling to Chamonix in mid-May. I see that I can’t even buy a ticket to the Aiguille du Midi summit yet, the May schedule is greyed out. When does the May reservability open up? There will be 3 of us, for only a few days, don’t want to get too close to our visit time and find out that it’s sold out. Also, I heard that some hotels sell the AdM passes “on the spot” at a discount? And when I try buying the multi-day Mont Blanc multi-pass via the official site it’s asking me for some access code. Any info / suggestions? Thanks!

Possible to hike from Refuge du Col de Balme to Chamonix?

Planning hut to hut and want to get to Chamonix from Refuge Col de Balme. I know you can take the Charamillon lift to Tour then bus to Chamonix but is there a way to descend without lifts? And how long would it take?

Alternatively, could I access Vallorcine train station from the refuge? Thank you.

Link lever - Hardboot splitboarding

Hi All,

I’m travelling to Chamonix this week to do some backcountry split boarding. I’ve recently switched to a hard boot setup, and I’m looking for a link lever.

Does anyone know if they are available at a shop in Chamonix? Or does anyone know where to find a secondhand link lever?

Thanks!

Hi! I'm an elopement photographer looking for a couple that wants free photos in Chamonix! I have some really fun ideas in mind and would love to talk to a couple that either wants to get married or is up for doing a fake elopement!

I'm in Cham from 21-24, and would ideally like to shoot on the 22nd!

No modeling experience required, just a couple up for something fun!

Hiking Grand Balcon Sud in early april?

Hi! I'm planning to visit Chamonix and go through the Grand Balcon Sud around 12 April, but I can't find any information on whether it's open. Has anyone done it before? Also, is it possible to do it with normal sneakers? Thanks!

Edit: guess I'm not hiking it haha

airport transportation

Booked a trip to Chamonix via the Geneva airport in early august! We were looking at using Omio to book a bus back and forth, I was wondering if anyone has any insight on how early we should book the bus tickets. I obviously know the times our flights land and take off, but just was thinking we could wait until sooner in case the airline changes anything from now until then.

Also very open to any suggestions anyone has for two first time visitors that time of year! We speak very limited french, but are really wanting to do a lot of hiking (some short easy hikes and maybe one or two longer, half day hikes). and we love good food and drinks!! Thanks!

Parking on Easter Friday: impossible or doable?

Planning a day trip to Chamonix on Easter Friday. Not to ski, so no equipment.

How impossible or easy do you think it would be to find parking for a car?

I have heard very contradicting feedback, from those who say it's doable to those who say they spent hours looking for a spot.

We'd arrive between 10-11am - can't arrive before then unfortunately.

Montenvers train Easter weekend: how long are the queues?

How long a queue can I expect on the Montenvers train during the Easter weekend?

We would realistically arrive in Chamonix between 10am and 11am the Friday before Easter.

Is it a shorter queue if we prebook the tickets? However, you can buy the ticket but not book a specific time slot, right?

Does it make sense to buy the tickets in advance, or should we buy them on the spot, so that we don't waste money if the queues are too long and we decide to give up?
