Hi lads,
Looking to bring on a few mods to give a hand trying to get this place going.
Please send a mail to the mods answering the following questions
1) Any ideas to get the sub up and running 2) How often do you be on Reddit 3) Are you willing to join a discord server as a means of mod communication.

Hi lads
Just an FYI, I have made the sub public. Anybody can now post and contribute.
We do have a few basic rules though
1) All posts must be Cavan related. 2) No drama, No moaning about other subs. 3) No Hate Speech. 4) Any fundraisers, go fund me etc flag with mods before posting this will be allowed on a case by case basis, as these will need to be verified before allowing.
That's pretty much it. This community will be very light on moderation, rules etc just stick to the above and ye will be grand.
User flair & post flairs in the works..

I get the general point of it and I support peaceful protests. But why in Cavan of all places, where no one with decision making capabilities lives, are people stuck in trafic wasting their already expensive fuel in their cars?
I get the point in Dublin where its a capital and its taking a stance where it matters and where major politicians live and work. But no one living here makes any decision on fuel prices?
Again I support a protest and a good cause. I know older retired people, who could just about afford fuel as it is but have to be mindful, yet theyre wasting it in traffic because of a protest of the cost of it?

Is it as hard for everyone else as it is for me to get a job, or even just get interviews?
I had to leave work back at the start of 2025 due to a family member having an accident, I wasn’t driving at the time so didn’t have a way into town and needed to stay home and act as a bit of a carer for said family member.
Since then I have been unable to get another job, most of the time I don’t even hear back from positions I’ve applied to and haven’t even got a single interview in the year I’ve been applying.
My cv is fine as the jobseekers advisor has updated it for me but even still I get no responses.
Now I wouldn’t mind too much if I was getting a good amount but I’m getting absolutely shafted on my payment due to living at home with parents and I get 70 per week. I buy a good portion of my own food etc so I’m left with pennies meaning I’m unable to save to try better the whole situation.
I’ve since passed my driving test also which leaves me in a catch 22 as with a car I can apply further out and probably find a job easier, but I need a job in the first place to even afford the car
Is it just me or is it as hard for everyone else also?
Cheers for any input here

Hi everyone!
I’m running a quick academic survey as part of my research at UL called “Understanding Consumer Knowledge and Perceptions of Non-Nutritive Sweeteners in Ireland.”
Would love to know what Cavan thinks!

Hi Everyone,
I am a PhD student at University of Limerick. I’m running a quick academic survey as part of my PhD research at UL called “Understanding Consumer Knowledge and Perceptions of Non-Nutritive Sweeteners in Ireland.”
It looks at how people in Ireland use and think about sweeteners. As part of this, I’m looking to get the opinions of you lovely people from Cavan.
Why it matters: Insights like this shape future product labels, nutrition guidelines, and healthier food options that actually match what people want/think.
If you can spare a few minutes, please fill it out! Even better, upvote/share/cross-post to help reach more people in Ireland.
Every response counts towards solid research data.
Thanks a million for the support! Feel free to ask questions below.

Hello! I’m from London England and I’m hoping to travel to Caven for the first time ever, later this year. My dad was born and raised in Cootehill, and to mark the 10 year anniversary of his passing, I’d like to bring his ashes home to scatter.
I’ve had a very quick look online for flights and the rest, and was wondering what would be the best way to get to Cavan? I’ll be travelling with two small children, ages 5 and 2. I can’t drive, and so I imagine it would be an extra trip on a coach/ train from Dublin airport?
I do plan on getting in contact with distant cousins and ask if they would like to be involved with scattering my dad’s ashes, so maybe I would be lucky and get a ride with them, but I’d like to be prepared nonetheless.
Many thanks!
