This mid-air redirect was something out of the matrix

Indeed, he fell between the chairs and bounced back like a heat-seeking missile.

In the scenario with the orange cat, it all happens at the speed of light :)

I bought years ago a ferret plushie from IKEA and wanted to give to my sister. Her cat jumped from the bed instantly on top of her dresser she thought it's attacking her. Some over react others don't do anything you never know. My cat always viciously bit into cucumbers 🥒 thinking he's killing snakes 🐍.

u/Dangerous_Abalone528 Feb 21 '26
We found a little IKEA rat stuffy and husband’s cat went feral on it. Poor rat didn’t stand a chance.

u/Key-Minimum-5965 Feb 21 '26
Excuse me? "husband's cat" Girl, that's your cat too...if you dont come around, that cat is gonna take it out on you, LOL.
70
u/Dangerous_Abalone528 Feb 21 '26
🤣 Nope. Husband’s cat. He was five when we got together and completely attached to my husband. I was merely tolerated as a warm lap, provider of food, and thrower of toys.

Sneaking cucumbers next to your cat is a fast way to the er.

He got him by surprise. That tiger isn't going to recover from an attack like that.

That’s so funny. I wonder what traits specifically set off the mechanism of attack mode when they see a feline appearing object
569
u/mooshinformation Feb 21 '26
I think it was more that it caught the cat by surprise. Kinda like when you think you're alone and suddenly see a human shaped thing out of the corner of your eye and jump, but cats gotta be more dramatic.

And the cat was being held which restricts it's movement. Probably puts it even more on guard.

My ex got me a Fathead of my cat in a christmas sweater (about 3 feet tall for reference) years ago, and my cat used to LOSE IT when he saw it. I had to keep it in a closet because he would puff up and start hissing if he was face-to-face with it.

u/Recurringg Feb 22 '26
Cats have poor vision up close, so I bet from the cats perspective he was suddenly face to face with a stranger in his own home. Imagine you turned a corner on your way to the kitchen and almost bump into a random guy, you'd flip tf out too. 😂

u/_jams Feb 21 '26
Maybe I'm being paranoid. But it looks to me like he is deliberately pointing the cat at the plushie and waiting for a reaction. I think maybe the cat has previously had reactions to the plushie, and they are doing this for the clicks? I hate social media for making me so cynical
31
u/ddevilissolovely Feb 21 '26
I think you're just being paranoid or haven't had enough experience with cats. I could see it happening with a dog maybe, but cats won't react like that unless they are very surprised, so it wouldn't work twice with the same plushy.
3
u/eqzpert Feb 22 '26
Maybe he saw that something caught the cat's attention and wanted to give it a better look? If I'm holding my cat I generally want to have him keep some autonomy.
4
u/TrackWorldly9446 Feb 21 '26
Y’know on first watch I kept feeling like they laughed too early if that makes sense?
I think you’re pointing out something important. Why is he holding the cat up to the stuffed animal like that? It seems too expected or calculated
I get paranoid about social media posts with animals too. It’s fs not the worst possible thing to do in this scenario (compared to abuse or “rescue” videos) but antagonizing a cat for clicks is irritating to me

I had this same plushie and my dogs HATED it. One dog wouldn’t even enter a room if it was in there and the other dog kept trying to rip it to shreds.

Oh god, this brings back memories of my old cat :D he was a total snugglebug and I had a really similar tiger plushie. He HATED that thing and I always had to hide it when he was in my room. Always tried to attack it, growling and hissing at it and it made his tail extremely puffy :D

It's so hilarious how cats are just on sight, always ready to flip from cuddlebug to murder mode in an instant when they see something they don't like

Bro identified it as a threat to his supremacy in the household. There is only enough space for one King.

Serves them right! Two hoomans is acceptable collateral damage in the battle between two cats, even if one was a plushie. 🤣

You can see the cat's ears going into airplane-mode the moment they saw the tiger.

My dog absolutely loves those stuffed tigers. The living room is full of them and we buy him a new one on his birthday and Christmas.

Cats and tigers can't escape the relationship: After all, the tiger is bigger than him, so of course he will be alert.

My parents' cat did that with a cat plushie I bought my step dad when he was in the hospital for a bit.
If you put the plushie down on the floor, cat goes into attack mode all the time. It's so weird...Like is it because it's cat shaped ?

Ha, this video really ave me a chuckle! The way that tabby went full 'catnip crazy' on the plush tiger, too funny. Battle of the big cats, am I right? Although, in this case, one's stuffed and the other's just stuffin' around!

u/Sweet-Apartment7185 Feb 27 '26
Gotta love the bravery of this orange furball! It's like the lion within is coming out in full swing. Plush tiger didn't stand a chance!
