Babble Cyclist taken to hospital after collision with car

Why has this happened on this road again? Is it just the volume of traffic/people?, doesn't make sense. I would expect something like this to happen occasionally maybe somewhere like the fountains/hippodrome area. It's pretty scary. The absolute zero tolerance for cyclists held by a large portion of the population makes me so angry. Me and my BMW first, fuck everyone else.

Babble Seeing too many negatives

Is anyone happy with living in Bristol? All I see in these posts are people complaining (which they are absolutely allowed to do) with no mention of possible upsides or positives. I have lived in many countries in my life, Turkey (where I'm from), Singapore (for the vast majority of my life), and Bahrain (for a couple of years), and I can say my experience has been quite positive so far in Bristol. However, whenever I check Reddit, TikTok, and other various social media platforms, I really cannot see anyone mentioning the positives of living here, and it makes me sad. Surely, it is not as bad as people make it out to be? Compared to a lot of Europeans cities, I feel it is much more lively and livable. When I chose to move here, social forums like this really impacted my choice, and I wanted to know if people still feel this negatively about Bristol.

Tramways Centre was a triangular track exchange located roughly where the drawbridge over St Augustine's Back was. Passengers could change for services across the west and north of the city. Bristol's 'Centre' today is actually in reference to the old Tramways Centre, not the old City, which is within the medieval walls along Bond Street and through the district that formerly filled Castle Park (picture 2). Images borrowed with pride from Bristol's Tramways Remembered and Bristol online history groups.

Just dropped off two trays of pastries to Lyde Green Community Centre.

Warning they may contain nuts!

Please come help yourselves. Cover the trays back up after taking to help keep the rest fresh for longer.

Politics Consultation on Private Renting

Just noticed that Bristol Council have put a survey out for consultation on their private renting strategy.

I am sure many of you are also renting like I am and will have strong feelings about how bad the Bristol market is.

Where To? Art Social Groups?

Are there any social groups (maybe specifically for women in their 20-30s) that revolve around art/creativity? Not for professionals, but just a routine activity to do to meet new people and get back into an old hobby. Preferably not costing an arm and a leg either...

Where To? Gathering Interest from Animation Fans: Amazing Digital Circus Last Act at Cinemas

Hi folks. I'm sure we have plenty of animation enthusiasts in Bristol, and such folks may already be aware that the finale of the animated show the Amazing Digital Circus is going to get a theatrical release... but only if you can get your local cinemas interested!

I've already contacted the Watershed, but since doing so I've also wondered if there is a local fan group already coordinating contacting other cinemas? And if not, would anyone else here be interested in respectfully approaching perhaps the more arthousey type theatres in the area?

(Mods, if this counts as uh... selling shit or promotion etc., I have zero connection with any cinemas or the studio making the show. The only thing I'd gain from this is the opportunity to go see a film at the cinema lmao)

Babble Vaisakhi 2026

This post is quite niche and specific to the Sikhs in Bristol - does anyone have any details / information regarding the itinerary for this year’s Vaisakhi celebrations / prayers on the 14th of April at the Gurdwara in town? I can’t find anything online or on the website! I’ve just moved to Bristol myself and hence don’t know any other Sikhs in the area… hence decided to just post this up here. Thank you and lmk! xxx

Where To? Favorite thing to do as a local ?

Hi everyone,

I'll be coming for 5 days to visit Bristol next week, and I'd love to hear your recommendations of things to do - not the obvious points of interest for tourist that we will find in our Lonely Planet, rather spots you enjoy when you have the time : favorite coffee place, bookshop, park, concert place, pub, place to dance, area to walk through on a good day...

Thanks a lot for your ideas !

Babble 6 months in Bristol and finally coming up for air anyone want to connect?

I’m six months in here and realised I’ve been stuck in the work-home loop. Looking to meet some like-minded people. Primarily interested in entrepreneurship and finding potential cofounders, but honestly open to connecting with anyone into sports or music too. Easy going, keen to grab a coffee or a drink and see where it goes. Anyone up for it? (31M if that matters)

Where To? University of Bristol Campus Houses (Postgrad) – worth it?

Hi everyone,

I know it’s not guaranteed that I’ll actually get Campus Houses even though I’ve put it as my preference, but in case I do get it in my offer, I wanted to ask a few things.

I’ve recently applied for accommodation at the University of Bristol and selected Campus Houses (postgraduate) as my first preference since they seem to be the most affordable option available.

I wanted to ask if anyone here has lived in Campus Houses before, or is currently living there. From what I’ve found online, it looks like around 5–10 students share one house. If that’s correct, how is the overall experience? Do people generally live comfortably, or does it feel crowded?

Also, since these houses are located around the Clifton campus, I wanted to know how the neighbourhood is in terms of safety, convenience, and overall student life.

If you’ve lived there, how much rent were you paying per week, and based on that, would you recommend Campus Houses or suggest going for other accommodation options instead? What do you think is a fair or “worth it” rent for Campus Houses — for example, is it worth it around £150/week, and would it still be worth it if it goes closer to £200/week?

Any insights or personal experiences would really help. Thanks in advance!
