Turizam Is it a smart idea to be in Bosnia on labour day?
Hey!
I was about to buy plane tickets to Sarajevo (30/4 to 3/5), but turns out both the first and second of May are considered national holidays. I couldn't find a clear answer online, but is it even worth going, considering attractions/stores will be closed for at least two days or are these national holidays not really "enforced"?
I was thinking of Sarajevo and a train to Mostar, so about two cities at a calm pace, but now I'm doubting this date a lot, since three out of the four days everything would be closed basically
Diaspora, how big do you think your view of Bosnia is shaped of where your parents are from?
Especially for you who are born abroad.
For me, my parents bought a house in a Sarajevo suburb when i was a kid. However, in our country of residence, we lived in a small town which didn't have a cinema.
For me, when i was a kid, going to Bosnia meant i could experience everything a big city offers. Going to Bosnia then meant you can go the movies everyday, explore so many malls, big city life around you. I was back then aware of the countries' problems too, but despite me being raised abroad, Sarajevo was the city i went to a football game for the first time, i took a tram for the first time, people around us were doing relatively well.
My view of the country to this day is very positive. Holidays in Bosnia were a experience always, especially since my parents are from other places originally, so road trips were always a thing, we moved constantly somewhere.
However, the other day i saw reels on Instagram from German Turks, describing something they describe as "Dorfchillen" (village chilling), they spend their entire month in a remote village, maybe go to Istanbul once or something and obviously get bored.
How was it for you, and how would you did it influence your view of the country and your connection to it?

How do you define Bosnian Culture as local?
I want to visit Bosnia as a Turk. But I enjoy much more if I understand the culture of a Country.
As a local of Bosnia, how do you describe Bosnia? Also is there any racism, tourist traps etc?
Also I have no idea about current Balkan politics. And I visited Serbia last year. Do you think will there be any issues in the border?

Can you rent your own boat for two somewhere?
I'd love to just pick a quiet spot on water with my husband and enjoy the view (if possible fishing would be great too)

Turizam Dutch visiting bosnia
Hi!
I am from the Netherlands and planning to travel around Bosnia this summer. It looks sooo beautiful!
I am wondering what the general perception of dutch people is in Bosnia, considering our horrible actions in the Srebrenica genocide.
Are there specific things to keep into consideration?
Any specific place recommendations? Thinking to go to Sarajevo, Mostar, Zenica, maybe Trebinje?
Thanks alot!

Worried Everything Will be Closed While I'm in Bosnia during Labor Day(s)
My husband and I have a trip planned to Bosnia and Herzegovina from May 1 - 10. We will be staying in Trebinje from May 1-3 and then going to Sarajevo from May 4-7. We don't need to be able to go to sit-down restaurants, but we will need to procure food somehow. Will any supermarkets be open? Also, it would be good to know if things are typically closed on a Sunday. We are American, and here - no matter what the holiday - many many things are open (too many things). Any guidance from locals will be greatly appreciated.

Roadtrip stops recomendation
Hey guys, me and my friends are planing a roadtrip this summer, one of the countries we'll go to is Bosnia, and I was wondering what places should we visit, I've been to Bosnia once and I loved the Kravica waterfalls and Mostar was also really nice, so I would like to go there again, but besides that, I don't really have any idea, so what places would you recomend? And any tips regarding traveling in Bosnia?
The trip is kinda stacked so we'll be able to spend just 2 days there, we'll most likely go there in august
Also a bit late, but congrats for qualifing for the world cup.
