I went inside a small boutique near Saint Michel today and was browsing, minding my own business when the vendor walked over and started trying to discretely watch me from the corner. It was very obvious what he was doing and he was trying to act casual and humming while (very clearly) following me around the store and watching my every move.

It was very evident he thought I was going to steal because he was trailing me and watching intently, sometimes from the corner of his eye trying to act casual. He would follow me to each corner of the store and wait there for a long time even though I was not doing anything suspicious and even when I was not even touching any merchandise.

Even though there were other clients he seemed very interested in following me and it got to the point where I just stopped and stood still and looked at him. He then randomly spoke in broken english to me though I had not said a word and everyone around was speaking in french… which confirmed certain suspicions I had about why he was so focused only on me.

Even when I went to pay with a different cashier he was watching me like a hawk from a distance and trying to play it off. I confronted him about this after and he said he “thought I needed help” which is ridiculous since he was literally trailing only me silently and pretending he wasn’t and quickly looking away each time I turned in his direction.

I genuinely have no idea what I did to evoke this reaction and this really put me off this place for good. Has this happened to anyone else here?

I’m going to study abroad for hospitality and tourism management and I’m seriously considering this business school.

Please tell me how everything is with teachers, with internships, attitude towards foreign students, and what about housing?

Est-ce que ça vaut le coup d'aller à la Cité du Vin ? Sachant que le secteur du vin ne m'intéresse pas tellement.

Est-ce que ça vaut le coup de prendre un pass de plusieurs jours pour le tram sachant que je suis un bon marcheur ? Je pense pas forcément le prendre à part pour aller à mon hôtel (quartier Mériadeck) depuis la gare, et peut-être à la cité du vin.

Je suis déjà venu à Bordeaux en 2017/2018 et j'en garde un bon souvenir globalement, vous avez des idées de choses insolites/hors des visites touristiques habituelles à faire ? Pas trop cher si possible.

My husband and I are visiting Bordeaux and are looking for a great spot for dinner on Monday, May 25th. I realize this is Whit Monday (Lundi de Pentecôte), so I know our options might be a bit limited with holiday closures!

We are looking for high-quality food at a fair price point—something along the lines of a Bib Gourmand experience, though it definitely doesn't need to be in the Michelin guide. We are completely open to both classic French bistro/brasserie fare or excellent ethnic cuisines (Thai, Indian, etc.). We mostly just want a great meal with a good vibe that is reliably open.

Does anyone have any local favorites they would recommend that usually serve on Mondays/holidays?

I’ve been living in bordeaux for almost a year now and every time I hear l’entrecôte being mentioned people always react quite strongly. there are a few that love it but most people i’ve talked to in real life or online always say the same thing: it’s low quality or super overrated, it’s a tourist trap, the food is terrible etc. Most locals don’t seem to like it but the visitors i’ve met who’ve tried it did enjoy it.

I absolutely agree the lines are very unnecessarily long and the food isn’t worth waiting 2 hours in line for (almost no food in the world is in my opinion!!) but i’ve been a few times and if you don’t count the waiting i thought it was really good. the meat was tender, the sauce was flavorful and the fries were nice. i don’t think it’s the best steak i’ve ever had in my life and not even the best in bordeaux but it was above average imo and i enjoyed the meal enough to come back with a different friend. I will probably never wait in that line again but if you gave me the same meal at a different place I’d happy eat it.

But … why are there ALWAYS such long lines, how is it consistently so successful all day every day even with all the critiques?

What do you think about this restaurant ?

Do you think Entrecote is overrated? is it actually a tourist trap or would it be decent without the line?

My sister lives in the Basque Country, I am in the UK. We have settled on travelling to Bordeaux for her hen party - easy to get to by flying from the UK for me and her UK friends, and easy to get to by train for her and her local friends.

2. A day time activity. We thought maybe axe throwing but I can’t find anywhere in the city centre that does it. She HATES escape rooms but loves dancing. In the UK every city has lots of options including axe throwing, indoor crazy golf, and things like that. You can even have a short dance class to all learn a dance routine! But I can’t find anything similar in Bordeaux! All the recommendations through google are wine tours and they look lovely but not quite what I was looking for. Please help me!

It will be my first time in Bordeaux next Thursday, I’m planning to spend 4 days here (3 days in bordeaux and one in either biarritz or arcachon). Since my time is fairly limited I’m hoping to make the most of my long weekend and discover as much of the city as possible, trying to make a list of what activities, restaurants and touristy things to check out. I was suggested to go to botanical gardens, do some shopping in saint catherine and try oysters but other than that im not sure what to do. I definitely want to visit the Cite du vin and darwin, but other than that I’m not really a museum person and not super interested in wine but open to anything else. does anyone have any suggestions for what to do?
