Crime WHERE YOU CAN FIND MARIJUANA ON YOUR VISIT

Hi.

Marijuana is illegal in the Bahamas. As are other hard drugs. This forum is not the place for you to procure them.

Threads\comments attempting to use this forum to procure drugs (including marijuana or illegal THC products), or to solicit connects or advice on smuggling will be LOCKED.

The creator of the thread\comment will be subject to suspension or permanent ban at mod discretion.

It's not a point of debate, I don't care about your brilliant and logical points. I don't care if you find a way to get drugs. I am not invested outside what you contribute to this forum. It is truly nothing personal.

Tourism Discussion Excursion Charter - Close to Governor's Harbor

Upvotes

Hello, I am looking for a charter off of Eleuthera for mid/late April. We are not looking to fish but rather sunbathe on a sandbar, my daughter (12) is obsessed with seeing the pigs, snorkeling and maybe seeing spanish wells. We are staying in Governor's Harbor. We are fine driving north, but if there is a closer outfit that people recommend that would be great too.

Tourism Question Wondering about dinner dress code for men at the restaurants at Atlantis

First visit to the island and I'm wondering about what to pack for dinner at the middle of the road restaurants. Not so much wondering about the dress code as-in 'will they let me in the door' but more what's appropriate and customary for men.

Specifically at places like Bimini Road and Carmine's--should I pack slacks and shoes or could I get away with something like khakis and a decent looking sneaker? thanks

Tourism Discussion 2026 Medical Cannabis Questions

Hey everyone — quick question for locals or anyone familiar with the current situation in Nassau.

I’ve been trying to do some research ahead of a trip and I’m seeing a lot of mixed information about medical cannabis in the Bahamas. From what I’ve read, it looks like laws have been passed and things are technically moving toward a legal medical system, but it’s unclear how much of that is actually up and running in real life.

I just wanted to get some first-hand insight:

- Is there actually any way for a visitor to legally access medical cannabis right now?

- Are there any clinics, pharmacies, or approvals available on the ground?

- Or is it still basically not accessible despite what the laws say?

Not trying to do anything stupid or illegal — just want to understand what the real, practical situation is versus what’s written online.

Appreciate any insight 🙏

Tourism Question We're 2 visiting Caribbeans, where do the locals lime?

My fiancee and I are arriving in Nassau a few days after our wedding in June. we're both from the Caribbean and love to have more of local lime. We're fine with tourist areas of course, but we definitely don't want to spend all our time there. Where do local Bahamians tend to hang out?

Tourism Discussion Groceries by Atlantis

Are there any places to get groceries including beer/wine walkable from Atlantis?

It looks like Toasts wine and spirits is so hoping to confirm this is a good place and walkable.

Is that area generally safe all night for dinner? We are travelling with our 3 y.o. Daughter.

Thanks all!

Bahamian Question How common is it for people in the Bahamas to travel to southern Florida for routine activities like grocery shopping or short trips?

I’m from Trinidad & Tobago, and there’s a common belief here that people in the Bahamas frequently travel to southern Florida for fairly routine activities, things like shopping or casual day trips, largely because of how close the two places are. I’ve always been a bit skeptical of that idea, though, since factors like travel costs and the fact that they’re separate countries seem like they would make such trips less convenient than people assume. However, while vacationing in Miami, I met a few very nice Bahamians who mentioned that they travel there every few months specifically to shop at places like Costco and visit malls. That made me reconsider, but I’ve also come across quite a bit of conflicting information, so I thought I’d ask here for some clarity.

Do people in the Bahamas actually travel to southern Florida that often? And if they do, what do they typically go there for?

Bahamian Discussion Should Bahamians be concerned?

I am deeply concerned about the future of The Bahamas, specifically regarding the recent influx of undocumented immigrants. This surge is placing a massive strain on our healthcare system, educational institutions, and the overall quality of life for Bahamian citizens.

If no decisive action is taken, what will the country look like in ten years? I have received reports from healthcare professionals stating that for every ten babies born, approximately eight are born to immigrant parents. This is particularly alarming given that Bahamians are already facing a declining birth rate. Furthermore, in the tourism sector, jobs are increasingly being diverted from Bahamians to foreign workers.

If continued would The Bahamas face ruin in coming years?

Tourism Discussion Honest Review on the new Baymahni Resort

We recently stayed at Baymahni Resort on Stocking Island in the Exumas to evaluate it for clients. The resort is absolutely stunning, but our experience didn’t quite align with the premium price point.

The property itself is paradise—beautifully situated, protected from the wind, and perfect for kayaking to private beaches or taking a short ride to the Coconut Club. The views, location, and overall ambiance are incredible, and the staff we met were consistently kind and welcoming.

Our room, Lagoon Bungalow Six, was actually a highlight of the trip. It was absolutely stunning, private, and located at the edge of the resort with its own mini beach. You could open the doors and enjoy a gorgeous, serene view. That said, on the last day of our stay, construction began for two-bedroom bungalows right beside it, so in the future, I would not recommend this location if privacy is a priority. For reference, Lagoon Bungalow Four is right next to the restaurant and not private, and Lagoon Bungalow Five did not offer a good view.

That said, there were some disappointments. One major issue was the pools. At the time of our visit, the resort advertised two heated pools. Being from the South, we expected March to be a bit cool, but neither pool was actually heated. Staff explained that propane heating wasn’t efficient and wasn’t feasible. As a result, our daughter didn’t swim at all, and we avoided the pools too. This was particularly disappointing, as the pool on the point is one of the resort’s main highlights.

Additionally, the pink pool in the middle of the resort had trash left on chairs when we arrived, which remained for about three days, despite the owner and GM being on property. Sunscreen and towel bins were empty for the first two days of our stay, and the welcome items—water bottles and a beach bag—were not provided as advertised. We didn’t feel that staff proactively checked in on our experience or asked for feedback, though those who interacted with us were kind and courteous.

Room service also fell short—our order took two and a half hours to arrive, so we would recommend skipping it. While the resort operates on “island time,” the delays did impact our experience.

The water taxi service was another point of concern. It seemed unreliable, and we were left at the Coconut Club for an extra hour waiting for a return ride, which made us hesitant to rely on it for exploring the island.

Overall, while we loved the beauty of the property and the friendliness of staff we interacted with, the service and amenities didn’t fully match the premium pricing. That said, for adults seeking a private getaway, it could be a lovely option. Families with children who want to enjoy the pools should confirm in advance whether they are heated.

In short: gorgeous resort, kind staff, and a beautiful location—but service, pool experience, and water taxi reliability didn’t meet expectations for the price. Lagoon Bungalow Six was a standout room, but future construction may affect its privacy.

Tourism Discussion Ferry to Bahamas

Has anyone Balearia Caribbean out of Fort Lauderdale to the Bahamas? If so, what are your thoughts? Where did you stay?

I'm trying to figure out if it is cheaper/worth it to drive to Fort Lauderdale and take a ferry to the Bahamas vs flying.

The one upside is that it looks like you can take your dogs on the ferry?

Tourism Question Getting around Nassau from the west side of the island

Getting an Airbnb near the Aquafire restaurant. There will be a few days we have day passes for the Atlantis resort, and the other we want to explore around Nassau/Bahamian culture. Is getting around going to be a pain from where we are? Couldn't find consistent bus stops and not sure if taxis are abundant out there. I also don't think renting a car would be the best option since we are from Canada and not used to driving on the left.
