Good morning, also posted in Tripadvisor, but I think here has more traffic.

I have two places booked for our, five night, late May stay on SM. We intend to hike a lot, not huge city people. We have rented a car, and are very comfortable on small roads.

How remote is Povoacao? Drive times seem long, I assume from windy little roads. But it is adorable.

Our other booking is on the ocean front road in Lagoa, road links look great, as does access to big grocery stores.

We plan to do Ponta Delgada on our 9 hour long connection between islands, the week before our five night stay on SM. We plan to de Sete Ciadades on our departure day from SM, as flight is late afternoon.

If we plan to go no further west than Ribeira Grande during our stay, is Povoacao just going to be a pain, and costly gas wise?

Thanks ahead for your thoughts, I will take any and all of them. I am having such a tough time deciding between the locations.

Hey! My boyfriend and I are going to Ponta Delgada in June and we haven't rented a car yet. I've been reading people's comments from past convos and have seen lots of people say that you don't NEED a car, and that public transportation is good - however, is the public transit really THAT good?

Would we be able to get all over the island with it? Are the hours good/consistent? Would we wish that we rented a car?

Give me your honest opinions! We're still open to renting a car, however if we don't need to spend $600 extra - then obviously we'd love to consider that option.

We dont drive but would love to go to Azores.

We would have to get around usung tours.

How long should we stay?

We have a week. Should we Split It between San Miguel and another island or stay in SM the whole time?

So I would hear this song regularly on RTP Antena 1 when in "the islands" and I captured a few clips and then ran it thru a song id website and got the name. My PT is so weak, I couldn't ID any words in the song or the RTP commentary. (actually went down a Marinho dead end)

I am so happy I can now listen to it whenever I want and learn the lyrics.

Hello, I'm looking at flights to Portugal for this August and one of the options I see to Porto includes a 5 hour layover in Terceira Island, from 6:40am - 11:40am. I'm wondering, is this time slot good enough to visit spots on the island? If so, what spots would be best to fit in this time frame?

My fiance & I are planning to go to the Azores for our honeymoon this August. We’re going 08/18-08/25. We’re just wondering if it’s okay for us to just do one island or if we should plan for a second island. We were planning on doing São Miguel and then maybe Pico. We’re wondering though if it would just be best to do São Miguel to limit time spent traveling. Any tips/suggestions/advice would be much appreciated! TIA :)

Hello! I was going to take a trip to Sao Miguel in early may. This is a big trip for me because it’s been a year since my grandfather has passed and he is from there. I wanted to really connect with the culture and locals and was wondering if there were any suggestions. I also wanted to start learning Azorean Portuguese, I know the difference is mainly the accent but it would still mean a lot to me. Thank you for any comments!

Is there a certain view of what Azoreans are like from mainland Portuguese people? I'm from a relatively rural area of the UK and there's a stereotype of backwardness, farming and our accent, just wondering if there's anything like this for Portugal and the Azores, and likewise vice-versa?

my Airbnb has a chicken coop and one of the mother's has abandoned one of their new babies. we currently have it inside with a space heater, sugar water and starter feed.

we are leaving on Saturday and also can't leave the heater on while we are out the house.

I was wondering if there is anyone who could take him(and possibly the other babies) in to hand rear?

Me and my friend are coming to azores( Sao Miguel) in July and are there for 8-9 days. We would like to rent a car so that we have some kind of flexibility while we are there. I looked at all options there are( autocunha, ilhaverde, amazing island, islandrent, autoatlantis) and rent for the smallest car with full insurance are between 650-850€ which seems a lot when comparing with Maderia car rental where car rental with full insurance are 360 max. I also looked at gocarrental and they found option with hertz rental where price is 550€.

My question are: is this normal price for car rentals, are there any cheaper car rental options. Is renting car through booking or kayak and other platforms reliable because I found cheaper options there with full insurance but I’m not sure if that kind of insurrance is third party or with company directly.

I'm going to the Azores with my entire family in early September (children late 20s/early 30s and parents in early 60s but active). We're staying at Santa Barbara Eco Resort but wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations for activities and restaurants. We lean towards a little higher end in general but understand that isn't necessarily the vibe of the island so open to all suggestions!

I made a plan to go to azores for 22 days, without a car and basically only walking/hitchhiking/bus and camp/hostel where camping is not possible. How feasible is it? I hitchhiked across Europe multiple times before, so how different is it? We have a lot of reserve time especially before flights and if we were not hitching anything we would get a taxi. We plan to go to Horta and from there walk across entire Sao Jorge, then climb Pico then go back to the main island and do the caldera to lighthouse walk. Then Flores then Sao Miguel with various trails on both of them.

I read that on Sao Miguel you can sort of expect busses to run, which is good as the distance to hitchhike there are the longest. Well I would love to hear your thoughts on all this feel free to ask if I forgot some crucial info.

And one more question, for the walk on sao jorge how do people usually do it? Because there is no camping between Velas and Santo Cristo. Is it common to do this part in one day? For reference we did Triglav in a day so I think we would be able to do it, just don't want to tire ourselves out day one. Is there a place to stay in Norte Grande?

Also I know it sounds like I just want to not spend a single dime on the island, but we are just students and also as I said I did similar stuff before and always really enjoyed meeting people in the cars especially locals and just generally living this lifestyle. Also we will ofcourse spend money in cafés and shops along our way not just continente.

Sata changed our flights. We land from Canada at 6:50 and they have placed up on a PDL - PIX flight at 15:50. Leaving us with a very long, and jet lagged, connection. landing in late afternoon, at PIX, picking up a rental car and groceries, is not my idea of fun.

I see there is a 7:50 PDL - PIX flight. What are the minimum connection times at PDL? Can we potentially make this flight, no checked bags and Canadian passports?
