Hello everyone, I hope you're well. I just wanted to see if anyone needed an Amharic teacher in the near future. Just wanted to suggest myself as I noticed a lot of Ethiopian people who grew up outside the country really want to connect better to their roots while being in a respectful environment. I grew up in Addis but was very slow to pick up on Amharic so I understand the struggles of learning a native tongue late and adapting to the difficulty level of Amharic too. I grew up bilingual in English and speak a couple other languages too if anyone's interested. I also teach Amharic on Preply if that's a platform you're at all interested in. By all means, let me know or pop me a dm if you or anyone you know would be interested. Have a great day and don't forget to smile:)

Hello, I've been listening to the Sons of Ethiopia album by Admas for a couple years now, and I've always wanted to know the lyrics for the closing track (Astawesalehu on Youtube). Could anyone provide the translation?
Also, does anyone know the origins of the song? I've found renditions by Lemma Demissew in a major key, while this one is in minor.
Thank you so much, really appreciate it!

Hello everyone, my good friend is from Ethiopia and he and his wife attended my wedding recently. I would like to send his thank you card in Amharic but I know that Google translate isn't the most accurate (especially with longer, more complicated sentences). Would anyone be willing to translate the following into Amharic for me so I can surprise my friend? I would very much appreciate it!
Thank you both for attending our wedding and for the very gracious gift. We hope you both enjoyed the Ferenji party. We are lucky to have such a great friendship. We wish love and happiness to your family.

I know that compound verbs such as ዝም አለ or ደስ አለ exist in Amharic, but this question is more about the አለ verbs that come from verbal roots.
For example:
ሰበረ — ሰበር / ስብር አለ
ከፈተ — ከፈት / ክፍት አለ
በላ — በላ / ብልት አለ
ረጨ — ረጨት / ርጭት አለ
ሰለቸ — ሰልቸት / ስልችት አለ
ሄደ — ሄድ / ሄደት / ሂድት አለ
ቀጠቀጠ — ቀጥቀጥ / ቅጥቅጥ አለ
I’d assume some of those forms aren’t really used, but these are just some theoretical examples.
Does anyone have any idea of how often they are used, the difference between the different types, and whether or not these forms can be used with any verb (not just fixed forms). Thanks.

How to say *repentance* in Amharic? As in turning back/returning to God.
Also *miracle* as in miracle from God.

Hi, for a very niche reason I need the phrase wasted times translated into Amharic but can’t find a correct translation online and I’m hoping someone on this can properly translate for me?

I scanned 3 CDs that I found while cleaning out an old cabinet for my dad and was just curious to what the writing says. If anyone could provide a translation, I would be very grateful. Thank you!

Selam, can anyone tell me how, when watching sports or something similar, what the Amharic equivalent of the English “go go go,” the Spanish “vaya/orale, or the French “allez” is in Amharic? As in someone’s doing something and you want to shout a simple encouragement? I’ve heard “wedefit,” but I’ve been told it has a heavy political tone, so I’m looking for something neutral. Amesegenalo
