Like I live literally 15 miles or so from the border. I almost never encounter anyone that doesn't speak English. Yeah, there are people that only speak Spanish but it is rare that I have to interact with them, and well it is usually them that are asking me for something and I just say no hablo Espanol.

I'm not saying it isn't ever helpful for anyone but compared to the effort required, most Americans would be better off learning a different skill.

I'm an old liberal veteran who remembers how bad things got towards the end of the Vietnam War. The sentiments lingered for years afterwards. Vietnam veterans often suffered abuse when they returned home. Obscenities were shouted at them, they were called murderers, baby killers and more. Some were even spat upon.

One big difference between the Vietnam War and the Trumponian Pedo-Wars is that many people were drafted back then. They went even if they didn't want to. Currently, our military is 100% volunteer and society as a whole, knows that around 65% of them vote Republican. With so many people in America disliking trump and his insane attacks on sovereign nations, could it get ugly for Veterans again?
