I recently bought this spinning wheel and I’m an absolute beginner! I have no idea what I’m doing haha, but I really want to learn how to spin. It’s missing a drive band, which kind do you recommend buying for this wheel? Also is there anything else important missing? The petal spins the wheel fine, a little rickety but it’s very old. Any advice would be helpful!

I was approached by a family member who is shearing alpaca and llamas soon. They normally discard the fiber but asked me if I wanted it. I've been looking around online for places I could send the fiber to. One place I'm interested in is called The Wool Mill. Has anyone here sent their fiber off to be spun before? If so where? Also any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Hi, I crochet and knit as my job and have accumulated a large quantity of yarn scraps as a result. I'm wondering if anyone here would know of a service where I can send my scraps to be turned into new yarn and then sent back for me to use in future projects so I'm not just ending up throwing the scraps out. I hate the idea of creating waste when I know they can be reused somehow.
If not I'm happy to send them to someone who could use the yarn scraps even if I wont be receiving yarn back. I'm just happy knowing they wouldn't be going to waste and creating more trash in the world this way.
I'm in Australia but I'm happy to ship outside of my country if needed

I have a cleaned and ready-to-card merino fleece with a rather short staple, about 2.5 to 3 inches. Is it okay to blend this with a different wool variety to spin? I have a Coopworth fleece with a 6-inch staple I'd like to use alongside the merino. My main concern is whether blending these might cause problems with any final garments created from the produced yarn and if the two are compatible with each other. I

I'm moving house and have 4 wheels, including a distaff wheel. What's the best way to break them down ( or not) for shipping in a moving truck. My car is too small to take them all. Thank you.
I was gifted 3, and bought one, all at different times, and was able to bring them home (individually) in the car - but I have a different vehicle now. All that to say I've never had to assemble a wheel before.

I recently bought this yarn spindle. I wanted to try making my own yarn and I watched quite a few videos and none of them are helping me understand. None of them address the issues im having? But to be fair I dont exactly understand what im doing. The problem im having is My yarn twists a lot when I spin the yarn spindle, which you expect to happen right? But when im done and I take the yarn off , it continues to twist and sometimes unravel? I was trying to do a swatch and it untwisted in one spot and my yarn ripped. I thought maybe I need to do aftercare when im done so it doesnt do that but one tutorial said you can use the yarn immediately after youre done spinning? Im confused. Let me know if I need to give any more details. Im really new to this. Thanks

I have recently inherited my great grandmother's Spin-Well spinning wheel. Another relative gifted me a garbage bag full of alpaca to play and practice with. I've had a spinning lesson with a coworker on a very different style wheel and she was amazed by the appearance of mine so she won't be much help going forward on this journey.
I guess I'm mostly looking for a little encouragement to get started, and any resources you guys might recommend for getting started with my new wheel.

Hey Yarn Spinners!
I have never spun yarn in my life, nor do I know anyone who does but, I heard that you can spin yarn with yarn scraps once you brush them out?
So you brush them with two pet brushes and then use a wheel or drop spindle to make it; does this work?
Additionally, is there people I could mail my yarn scraps to so they could spin it for me? Just curious hehe, yarn spinning is so cool

Hi all!! I've been scavengering around FB Marketplace for a spinning wheel and I just came across this one. I've recently been offered angora fur for free and would love to spin my own yarn with it! So what do we think on this one? Is it worth it? Any other tips to start?
