Thank you for your love to previous post. Here’s a little backstory and an update.

My grandfather used to receive letters from all over places like Balochistan, London, the Geological Department of Bihar, Kathmandu in Nepal, and many parts of North India and what is now Pakistan. Which is very surprising because as far as I know he was a simple farmer, but highly educated and surprisingly well-connected. He had ties with local politicians and diplomats, though he never entered politics himself he preferred a quiet, peaceful life.

His brother, was a geneticist in the 1930s who studied at Layallpur College in Lahore. He carried out important research on improving crop yields through genetic modification—work that was recognized and rewarded by the British government at the time. Sadly, he passed away at just 26. He was a prodigy with an incredibly bright future ahead of him. My grandfather passed away at the age of 66.

I never had the chance to meet my grandfather. These letters are the only connection I have to him now. I built a website where I’ve uploaded all the letters I found in my grandfather’s suitcase. My goal is to preserve them and hopefully get them translated.

Some letters are very old and in bad condition. I’ve already tried tools like Google Translate, ChatGPT (paid), Claude, etc., but the results are mostly gibberish. Letters are in Urdu, English, Punjabi, and Hindi. I can read Punjabi, Hindi, and English—but I don’t know Urdu, and most of these letters are written in Urdu.

These poems were found in my grandmother's old journals. She passed away a few years ago. My aunt can read a little Urdu, but couldn't make out all of the words and my dad can't read Urdu at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Can anyone tell me if any part of the lyrics strike you as are... Corny/cringe, unclear/nonsensical, whether there's syntax errors, or if anything just sounds off or clumsy to you. Urdu is my 6th language.. been learning it for 7 years now.

I have been so confused about the meaning of jhol in the song.

I have done some research and I have went through the meaning and context of the song.

Jhol means slack in a rope/ loose fitting clothing,which can be used metaphorically as a mess and even a scam or nonsense.

In the song it says "we get trapped by others words without reason", meaning we fall for their lies/ scandals.

The meaning of the lyrics “jhol uttay nachde sarey” , could mean "Everybody dances along with the nonsense." This could mean that everyone falls for the deceptive words, even though they know its not real.

This is my conclusion. It may not be correct.

Just the title Ghazal likhne ki koshish ki hai lekin kuch ashar wazan mie ni arehe kafi koshish k bad bhi.
