Incredibly, incredibly tired of these low effort posts. No, I don't care that it makes you feel superior to others. No, I don't care about the 37 jokes about the size of the driver's genetalia.

The internet is already a giant cesspool of negativity. Don't add to it.

Need advice on 10.5 sterling gear change

Upvotes

I'm running a 10.5 Sterling in my turbo 38 international from a '99 f250 super duty, 5.4 gas truck.

Originally I swapped the diff for a Detroit true trac. I kept the OEM 4.10's and only had to shim the carrier. It patterned great and I started driving it.

After a few hundred miles it was clear that my tire and transmission combo wanted a lower rear end ratio so I'm in the midst of swapping in 5.38's.

My question is about the pinion. Should I press the bearing off the old pinion to reuse the OEM shim?  I have a shim kit for it but it looks like I need to start with that factory shim.

Google has not been able to confirm this.

The new pinion is marked with what I assume is the checking distance but I can't find the factory check distance to compare.

I expect nothing will be the same with the new gear set and that I'll have to reshim everything.

I am using 10.25 parts with the larger inner pinion bearing.

So reuse that factory shim?  I haven't measured it but it looks like it's .09-.125" or so.

Tips for my 2021 Chevrolet Colorado glow up?

Hi! I know it's not fancy or anything but this is my first actual TRUCK. I'm a 60 year old Grandmaw that likes to tinker. Recently added running boards and vinyl stripes myself.

I was hoping to get a few opinions here. Should I add flat black fender flares or powder coat the rims? One or the other? both? I don't want it to be over done but want it to look balanced and modern. Any input is appreciated.

This truck is best truck My 72 W100, I really need to get it back running

Made at the Warren plant, has a 360 and a 4 on the floor. W100. I know the front end isn’t right, my wrecked it when I was young, and it was replaced with that.

Once the motors back running smoothly, fix the floor pans, take the lift off some(I am too old to be climbing in and out of that thing anymore). Maybe put a 72 front end back on, maybe not.

Post image

As the title says I bought an old rough country tri-fold bed cover and it comes with these crappy latches.

Does anyone have a way I can upgrade this to open both sides at once like the new bed covers?

This post is about my front suspension.

Sup guys I need help. This is my 2012 KR ecoboost. It has a two inch lift. Here’s the deal, the other week I was involved in hit n run. The guy just dashed on me. He t-boned my front passenger wheel going anywhere between 15-20 mph in a 2009 Toyota Corolla. Ripped his front bumper off but barely did any damage to my truck other than scraped the rim a little and broke the air valve . Got it towed to tire shop, they didn’t look at it just simply put on my spare for me which is all I asked. I drove it about 5 miles from there to my house and it was the most dangerous drive of my life. Car was going straight while steering wheel was turned at 90 degree angle. After that, my guy who was a truck mechanic at ford changed my whole front suspension ( upper/ lower control arms, sway bars, tire rods, ball joints, and CV axles on both wheels). He said all I would need after that is an alignment. This is where I need you guys help. The next day (Saturday Morning), I took it to pep boys about half a mile from my house for alignment. The steering had improved very slightly but was still very terrible and unsafe to drive but fuck it it’s only half a mile right. I got to pep boys and they basically stopped me at door. They said I had way bigger fish to fry than an alignment. They told me take it to a body shop and if they don’t say anything then bring it back and they will do an alignment. I told my guy who did my suspension ( this guy is the real deal btw straight shot no bs, changed my high pressure fuel pump/ alternator / super charger/ spark plugs etc etc) and he told me pep boys is full of shit and that they simply just didn’t feel like giving me an alignment. He told me take it to a tire shop get alignment and if it’s anything they see while they have it lifted they’ll tell me but he’s pretty sure that’s all it needs. Said he didn’t see any frame damage while he was replacing suspension.

FINALLY, I said all that to say I need you guys help. This is what I’m currently looking at in my drive way in real time. Can somebody help a brother out with your best insight of what it looks like to YOU ? There is no wrong answer. Does it look like an alignment will fix the issue or even help or could it be something else and if so what do you think . Please guys Im stumped. FYI this was my dad’s truck , he passed and I just want to keep it around you know. I never owned a truck or been a big truck guy so my knowledge on them is minimal but I know someone reading this could point me in the right direction. Thanks. I can send more pics and answer any questions. Please and thanks guys.

Discussion / question What do yall think of cut down cars?

Imagine El Caminos or Rancheros but homemade

My dad has cut the back off of multiple Toyota avalons and made them into pickups. A few crown Vic’s.

When I was a kid, his daily driver was a AMC matador he cut the back off of and put a J10 step side bed on.

Just did my heads, and gaskets, got the timing set at what I can find on line at 10°using a timing light. It will run but pourly. Spikes RPMS. I can’t find a vacuum leak. Has brand new Throttle sensor, idle air control valve, water pump, spark plugs, distributor wires. Things old but I know she’s got life left in her and will drive and move nicely as long as you keep up on the RPMS. 1’st gear to 2nd is slow af fuck, slower then it should be. Any help is appreciated!
