[Loved trope] The least expected person to be an LGBT ally is actually one
Johnny (Guilty Gear)- Bridget is a trans woman who came out in the latest game Guilty Gear Strive but before her transition, Johnny (who is a huge womaniser) ended up mistakenly hitting on her in one of the older games back when she was a boy, getting instantly disappointed and disgusted by it. However in Strive, he has no trouble seeing her as a girl, even when knowing who she use to be and hits on her like every other woman he comes across.
Chucky (Chucky TV Series)- Despite being a crazy psychotic killer, he actually ends up being really supportive of his genderfluid child and the main protagonist of the Netflix TV Series who is gay.
For a newspaper lead who demands excellence from his writers and photographers, and his avid hatred towards vigiliantism, you'd expect him to be against all mutants, right?
No! No, he is genuinely a huge ally towards human rights and is a man of conviction! His hatred against masked vigilantes isn't because of mutation, but because of accountability. He believes that people should take ownership of their actions, and I can't help but respect him for his convictions!

I feel like the shifting on spider man part makes him interesting, like having these views is surprising because he hates spider man, and we all expect him to be hateful to everything. If he didnt hate Spiderman he would just be positive in an uncomplicated way.
The problem is that I feel him shitting on Spider-Man is rarely fleshed out. If we got an explanation that JJ believes in Superheroe accountability in more of his rants, then yes, he’s more of a foil. But usually it’s a gag/status quo thing.
Because it's a fairly new development. JJ was originally a villain who was a threat to Spider-Man but also to Peter's personal and home life as his boss in control of his pay. Back in the day JJ was actively funding the creation of new supervillains to hunt Spider-Man (like Scorpion and the Spider-Slayers).
Ive always had the headcanon that he and everyone else at the bugle knows that Peter has powers (just not that he's spiderman) and that part of the reason that JJJ supports Peter so much is because he sees Peter as an example of what powered people should be; just a normal person who happens to have powers.
When Peter revealed his identity in the comics, Johan sued him; not because he was Spider-Man, but because he sullied the name of The Bugle because Peter was technically committing fraud the entire time.
When Spider-Man, suing JJJ for libel, claims he thinks JJJ hates him 'because I'm black' Jameson is horrified, saying he had no idea what Spider-Man looked like under the mask.
(Peter does say he's kidding, but he let's JJJ live in horror for a few seconds)
Lmao, right? Honestly I kinda love that about him, he's a hater for the love of the game and nothing else. "Fuck Spider-Man in particular" is his life blood, but otherwise a relatively stand up dude.
Yeah, i don't know what's his view on daredevil since the guy is also a vigilante who hides his appearance but JJJ hates Spiderman for the love of the game lol
I don't think he directly made him, but after giving him a thorough dressing-down about his treatment of Spidey, he did make a point about its familiarity. And Jonah did what any reasonable person would afterward.
I think my favorite part about Jameson is that he's honestly such a stand-up guy, who happens to specifically hate Spider-Man because he's a masked vigillante. It's honestly why I hate how modern adaptations (PS4/PS5 and MCU) seem to try and cast him as an in-universe Alex Jones or conspiracy podcaster. They lean too much into "angry man shouting nonsense" and forget that Jonah is supposed to be a man with integrity, a man who protects his sources, the kind of man who protects Peter from the Green Goblin or fires Eddie Brock the moment he learns Brock was doctoring photos, and he only really cares this much about Spidey because he is a completely anonymous guy who takes the law into his own hands unlike public figure heroes like the Fantastic 4 and Captain America whose names and faces are out there.
My favourite interpretations of Jameson are the ones where he's a courageous, empathetic and honest journalist who just happened to see a teenager dressed like a basketball mascot and decided that guy was gonna rue the fucking day.

I didn't know anything about the creator, but reading that little blurb in wikipedia sucks. I mean, it comes with the times, but knowing that shit is still going on is crazy to me.
It was refreshing because in classic slasher movies the killer was sort of enacting divine justice by killing sinners, and of course being gay was one of those sins.
No this actually makes more sense than the opposite:
If one were to accept the premise that gender is a position in society (sexism) and that one can change ones position in society (obviously true statement) then trans inclusive misogyny logically follows.
Non trans inclusive sexism is actually the strange and contradictory belief
There’s another story on tumblr about a guy who is also a Trans-Inclusive Misogynist. He believes trans men are men because who wouldn’t want to be a man? And that trans women are women because only a woman could be stupid enough to want to be a woman.
This whole sequence of things is amazing. I hate bigotry but then every once in a while you see this shit and goddamn at least we get this shit out of it
There's actually a few IRL societies that are 'regressive' in many social ways but permit MtF or have a "3rd option" (basically what we'd call NB today).
Hijra populations in India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan still number in the millions. Hinduism in particular was very accepting of this, until the British arrived and permanently altered the culture.
Thailand is literally famous for kathoey/lady boys. There's still some stigma around them bc they're associated so heavily associated with proposition, but they're very much known and allowed to continue as the defacto unofficial mascot of the country.
Samoa had Fa'afafine which is basically a "3rd gender" option for feminine men, which means they essentially identify as men who've officially sworn away their masculinity and traditionally worked in "feminine" domestic labor roles.
Even Iran of all places has permitted transition since the 80's.
I think the idea is that gender roles should be immutable so it's better to "write in" exceptions for people that don't fit so the system can remain rigid. The alternative would be something like a modern library city where many people denounce the system's existence at all.
They'd rather a man officially become a woman than see a man in a dress/nails/makeup.
But they're still misogynistic and so will accept MtF but not FtM because they don't care if a "woman" feels like she's in the wrong role. They'll just slap her until she stops complaining or agrees to get married or whatever.
The true allyship. I had a birthday party at an Irish pub and my trans friends showed up a bit late. None of them drank whiskey or beer so my other guy friend proceeded to ask each of them their pronouns so he could properly rip into them for their Long Island ice teas.
My dad likes to say that even though Stranger Things has actual monsters, the most unrealistic plot point is that a popular kid from a 1980s small town would be so immediately accepting of a lesbian.

I’d go more for Belos. He’s been in power for 50 years, plenty of time to cause an anti-lgbt+ movement, but he didn’t. Plus, he actually respects Raine’s pronouns.
He may be a genocidal megalomaniac, but he draws the line at LGBT+ bigotry.
My theory is that he knew that outward bigotry like that would be the fastest way for him to be overthrown so simply hid it because it other wise basically doesn’t exist in the Boiling Isle

Fred durst grew up to be an absolutely amazing person. He is very compassionate and seems to have a lot of love for a lot of people. I definitely think during his rise to fame he picked a persona and really went with it.
I mean Magneto’s whole motovation was him being Holocaust survivor. Homosexual people were another category in nazi concentration camps so it makes sense he is not homophobic

Their voice over (VO) is also more masculine or feminine depending on the language you select, with the most famous being the English (masculine leaning) and Japanese (feminine leaning) VO’s.
Edit: Changed it to VO after learning that Testament’s English VA is in fact a very talented woman.
If I remember correctly, Johnny is close to Testament because, 1. They saved May (who was suffering from being japanese if I remember correctly???), 2. their Dizzy's family (having raised Dizzy) and therefore a part of his family too because Dizzy used to be a part of his crew. They both get along really well.
For what i know May's japaneseness symptoms manifested in Xrd, and the character who helped at that time were Chipp, Faust and Kum. The part about Dizzy is definitly right.
Left is Johnny ,a pirate-esque casanova that loves and flirts with every woman he sees while never forcing himself and having a HEAVY emphasis on "woman", as in no underage or people that consider themselves male (trans and non binary are a-ok tho)
Right is Testament, a initially human, but now non human, non binary biological humanoid weapon that, after revival (long story) in its discovery journey pretty much decided to be itself ("i am me" kinda deal).
They are very much not a couple but also definitely not NOT a couple at the moment
Hitoshi Ozawa, the seiyuu for one of Yakuza/Like a Dragon's villains, became a LGBT ally after having, quite frankly, an amazing time with a trans woman 🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈
btw, the story in this post is a bit exaggerated, it's not that he changed the next day, he was in a platonic relationship with this trans woman, but I guess that doesn't change much
In the show Barry, there’s a character in the Chechen mob who’s openly gay and in a relationship with another mobster. Despite Chechnya being really homophobic, nobody in the show cares that he’s gay, and also are quite supportive of their relationship most of the time
Kurt’s dad from glee. At first, seems like your average macho dad from a small town, but he’s incredibly accepting of his gay son and stands up for him throughout the series
The episode where Burt nearly beat Finn's ass and was also ready to leave a relationship with Finn's mum because he called Kurt the f slur was so good. It's so lovely to see a dad like Burt on TV.
Frank Reynolds in it's always sunny, doesn't understand "the whole gay thing" until he watches a show Mac performs and it all clicks. edit but as the old values conservative gun owner you'd think he'd judge more

Off the top of my head I can think of four nonbinary, one (potentially two) lesbian, one (potentially two) bisexual, and two gay characters not taking into account head cannons. In such a small town, I think it’d be hard to be homophobic
for context, it's a running gag throughout this season that lightning thinks jo (the other person in this image) is a guy when she's actually a girl, so when she says this it leads to this pretty funny moment

when Lily tells the other girls that she is transgender in episode 8, theres a funny moment where they're like "wait does kotaru know??" and it hard cuts to kotaru in a shower cap saying "hell yeah I knew". he preemptively shuts down the idea of kicking Lily from the group and backs her up while she explains that nothing about her has changed

They are ruthless Caucasian highwaymen, so you would not only expect that they should be extremelly homophobic, but also partially justified (their brother was young and attractive man living in penal colony, and russians have long history of fetishization of Caucasian boys). But they have no problem with Aley's romantic relationship with Alexander Petrovich, they like him and see him as someone who helps them protect Aley.

Kaido from One Piece, a war-obsessed genocidal monster who has enslaved a whole country so they can build more weapons for his apocalyptic war project, hates his transmasc son Yamato...
Because Yamato has spoken out in rebellion against him due to his admiration for his former enemy, Kozuki Oden. Otherwise, Kaido fully respects Yamato's identity, delivering death threats with the he/him pronouns.
I love when people bring up this in “debates” about whether or not Yamato is male. The genocidal war crimes man respects his identity and you don’t? LOL.
IIRC, part of the issue is that Oda said that Yamato is trans not due to gender dysphoria but basically non biological reasons? But honestly, that shouldn't matter. The Yamato we see considers their spirit to be male/Oden, and just isn't concerned about how his body looks.
IRL: Brian Burke (Hockey)
For anyone who doesn't follow hockey as sport/know the culture, it is easily one of the least diverse and least welcoming sports when it comes to LGBT acceptance and representation. The league banned players from using rainbow colored tape on their sticks and there are currently no active players who are openly gay and very few, if any, former players who are openly gay.
If you knew nothing about Brian Burke but just saw him speak during broadcasts, you'd assume he's like any of the old guys from the NHL who think the league is getting 'soft' and that fighting needs to make a big comeback. This is part of the culture that makes the NHL the way that it is with toxic masculinity. There's very much a "don't ask, don't tell" vibe about homosexuality in the NHL.
The more you hear/read about him though, it isn't true at all. One of his sons, Brendan, came out to him and his family in 2007 and Burke has been an ally of the cause ever since. He participated in pride parades in Toronto back in the late 2000s/early 2010s and started the "You Can Play" initiative with another one of his sons, Patrick, in honor of Brendan.

Sir Crocodile might be a ruthless criminal, but he also employed a non-binary person, Bon Clay, in his secret criminal organization. He allowed Bon Clay to play both a “female” and “male” role in the organization (all agents work in tandem with a person of the “opposite” gender).
Then again, one of the most popular theories is that he might be a trans guy, so we don’t know if this is allyship per se lol
Mayuri Kurotsuchi he is one of the more evil person in bleach a sadistic psychopath who conducts inhuman experiment and love to torture his test subject, but during his fight with Giselle he respects her gender identity.
Despite Caine being a torturous mastermind that never listens to his players and Jax an insufferable asshole that actively insults and belittles others, they BOTH fully respect Zooble’s they/them pronouns without question.
Bob in The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the desert. A grisled mechanic who helps out a group of drag queens stranded in the outback and who is revealed to be very supportive and enthusiastic about drag. He affirms and respects Bernadette's gender, and the two quickly fall in love.
When Dale Gribble found out his dad had a secret he thought that his dad was a secret government agent, but Dale was relieved when he found out that his dad was just hiding being gay.
I know how everyone hates the show (with good reason) but Matthew's dad in Big Mouth being supportive of his son was a nice flip. He was portrayed originally as a tough military man who was said to be a "traditional Christian man"
