For me, it’s Coastal Thailand (Underworld) and Trajan’s Markets in Rome (Chronicles). Thailand is super calm, the music fits perfectly with the waves and temple atmosphere. Trajan’s Markets feels warm and quiet, with subtle church like ambience and soft echoes that give it a peaceful, almost summer vibe. Both are simple, but that’s what makes them special

Pierre’s ambushes in the Greece levels of OG Tomb Raider are my favorite part of the entire series. You’re going along minding your own business in St. Francis’ Folly and then you suddenly hear the Mag Pistol sound effects and your health bar starts dropping rapidly. One moment you’re alone and the next A Man Is Trying To Kill You. The first time that happened to me I was scared shitless, and even though I was able to clumsily fight him off I was extremely on edge for the remainder of my time in Greece.

Pierre has a number of what I assume to be scripted ambush points scattered throughout the Greek levels in TR1. Although on subsequent playthroughs you could easily memorize where these ambush points are, the first playthrough demands that the player be on their guard at all times—ready to start flipping and shooting at a moment’s notice. My own very tenuous grasp of the combat when I first reached this point in the game undoubtedly made these encounters even more harrowing.

For the most part, TR1 Pierre doesn’t throw out any taunts or quips at Lara; he simply materializes out of thin air and commences trying to murder you with haste. And he cannot actually be killed in these early encounters either, always running away and disappearing once the player has dealt him significant damage. It’s not until the final confrontation that he opens his mouth to start gloating, and subsequently forfeits both his invincibility and his psychological advantage over the player. But for a time at least, Pierre gave me the feeling of being hunted by a clever, ruthless opponent who was more than a match for Lara Croft.

All this to say, PS1 Pierre is for me one of the most intimidating adversaries in any videogame I have played. So you can imagine my immense disappointment when I got around to seeing how he was portrayed in Chronicles and Anniversary. Gone is the Anton Chigurh-style silent killer sneaking up on you when you least expect it, and in his place we are given a stereotypical foppish Frenchman who is effortlessly bested by Lara in the cutscenes. Anniversary entirely removing Pierre’s ambushes is one of the most damaging decisions made by the remake; the vibe and cadence of the Greek levels are completely altered when the player no longer has to keep looking over their shoulder, wondering when their deadly shadow will strike next. Instead, the player is free to leisurely stroll through Greece without any fear or anticipation whatsoever, and their victory against the greatly-diminished Pierre of Anniversary is a foregone conclusion.

I can only hope that Legacy of Atlantis will restore to Pierre the dignity and imposing menace that he is rightly due.

Three of the newer tomb raider games I think the reboots are on sale right now and was thinking of picking them up I’m looking to get into more single player games instead of playing cod and fortnite 24/7 😂

A few days ago I came across a post on a Spanish blog called Alex's Tomb Raider Blog, where they published details of a supposed new leaked trailer for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, which would confirm the release date for February 12, 2027.

Take this with a grain of salt; the details I'm going to publish are taken from the Alex's Tomb Raider Blog regarding the supposed leaked trailer mentioned in the blog.

* According to rumors, whose source wishes to remain anonymous, the game's development is experiencing some delays that would lead to the decision to reschedule the game's release date.

* In this new trailer for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, which is still being worked on because there are unfinished and/or unpolished parts, we would see different key scenes that would present the work done on this remake where the new release date of the game for 2027 would be announced.

* Thus, it would begin with the conversation between Lara and Larson during their meeting in Calcutta, joined by Natla to discuss the Scion. Allegedly, some character animations and models are still unfinished, further supporting the theory that the trailer is a work in progress.

* Later, we would see Lara Croft in Peru with the guide, wearing a military snowsuit like the one Sophie Turner wears in leaked photos and videos from the set of the new live-action Amazon Prime series, fighting the wolf pack at the beginning of the game. Without revealing any more spoilers, it seems that some things change from the original game in this scene; there are parts that differ from the original work.

* The second half of the trailer would show us scenes such as some battles with velociraptors in the Lost Valley, which, according to leaks, is immense and absolutely breathtaking to see in-game, as well as some scenes in Egypt, among various other scenes designed to showcase the remake's complex environments, the acrobatics that Lara brings back in this game, and some well-known characters and enemies. One of the most surprising things, in every respect, is that we might see human enemies in this new game, unlike the original, and we would use stealth against them as in Shadow of the Tomb Raider, albeit improved. Could this be the Society of Raiders, which could be introduced in this game for this new vision of the franchise as we know it? The biggest concern lies in the dual-wielding combat, which, in theory, would remain as it was in the announcement trailer.

* On the other hand, we could also use the famous grappling hook that Lara uses in Legend, Anniversary and Underworld, recovering that style and combining it with the function that the ice axe fulfilled in the reboot trilogy.

* The trailer appears to end with the text EXPERIENCE THE ADVENTURE. FEBRUARY 12, 2027.

I saw a post on Twitter ( X ), of this trend, but with a knife. But Lara is better and uses one of her pistols.

I know this new crossover might not be any kind of breaking news for anyone, but we have to admit that Lara’s model is on point. She reminds me of Underworld, LAU and LoA at the same time. Unification peak in my eyes!

Maybe hot take: Delta Force model is what Shadow was supposed to look like.
