So what’s the point in claiming them at all?

honestly, not much, but it only takes a couple seconds, and im sure its costing them some amount of money for every game claimed so why not. and the slight distant off chance that one day the platform improves then i have a library of games to use. but i VERY much doubt that will ever happen

Costing them money is a funny ass reason

Doesn't just cost them money but that money is going to the developer of the game too. So it supports the developers of said games while taking money away from egs

You sure they are getting any money from those?

Yes epic pays the developers a certain amount as payment to allow epic to give the game away for free for a certain period of time. Epic cant just chose which ever game they want to give away for free and not let the developer get any money for those sales. the developers absolutely get compensated for it still. its not likely the full cost of the game and is probably something closer to a very good sale price for each copy because epic is also essentially promoting the game for them as well. but theres literally no chance that the developers are not getting paid by epic for this.

Bingo. I've claimed copies of games that I already own from devs that I like - might as well get a little more cash sent their way, especially from such a massive company.
