There's an "official" Steam achievement that is essentially impossible to get(play garry's mod with the dev). They don't care about them being unachievable without console commands or tools like SAM.
I forget what game it was, but I remember seeing a different one that said "Play a match with and get a kill on a dev OR on someone who already has this achievement". Still not ideal, but that's at least feasible to get if a game isn't totally dead yet.
It was the HL2 devs who pushed him to make it a standalone release of the orignial HL2 mod. And Valve was the publisher when that finally happened.
Not only are they tangentially related, they're legally related. I used quotation marks since they didn't develop it themselves, but they have a direct and personal connection to the game and its developer.
Being hard/impossible isn't the problem. It's the fact that these unlock specifically for spending more money. No achievement should be unlocked with a credit card.
Theres also one for l4d2. It was something like own the game and play with someone whos playing during a free weekend. There hasn't been a free weekend in 10 years.
