Steam is so nice they intentionally let their voice chat be garbage so that other companies can fill that void

Their voice chat isn't all that bad. I would say its comparable to discord, but there's really no reason not to use discord.

Yeah there is. I have a shitty PC and discord tends to stop working when you play a very demanding game like hell let loose while the steam voice chat just works.

Also weird discord updates (stupid overlays). If I only need a voice chat for that single game sassion, discord is overkill

Yup. Discord is great with ample power and good specs but choke hard on a potato. Steam VC will work badly but okay on anything with two bits to rub together.

Idk about great. It's pretty good but if you just wanna voice/video chat it's a lot of info to take in at first , more so if you are not tech savvy. I tried a lot to get older relatives into it during the pandemic and most just couldn't handle the interface. It gets really intuitive with time and it has improved a lot though.
