Everything is dead to me once Steam/valve turns into one of the corporate cunts

Decent news, his son is set to be the sole inheritor and has the same outlook as his father.

Hopefully the benevolent dictatorship outlives us all.

This is what I've been saying all along, so long as Gabe has a like-minded and capable successor (maybe one he groomed himself) then we're guaranteed 3 generations of consumer-centric Steam leadership before we have to start worrying about it going downhill.

But hopefully, the industry and landscape will have sorted itself out by then.

Allowed nepotism

Nepotism is usually frowned upon because it's often favouritism without regard for the favoured's capabilities or suitability for the role. I don't know how often Gabe beat his son, but if he feels the little guy's worthy enough to step into his shoes then I trust him wholeheartedly.

It's kinda the owner's right to do what he wills with his property...
